A Gladius case opening
Lately I was able to open two gladius cases. I didn't find the time to write about the first one, so I will just combine these two in today's article. But before I'll go over to what was inside my gladius cases, I will first explain a bit what these gladius cases are.
Gladius cases?
For those who don't know what gladius cases are, I'll try to explain them briefly. Gladius cases are kind of cardpacks from Splinterlands. But they have some very specific characteristics:
- Only buyable with merits: You can only buy gladius cases with merits. Which you can earn in chests, for me, in bronze these are very small amounts though. The bigger amount of merits I earn, is through participating in brawls of my guild.
- Untradeable: Gladius cases are untradeable. Inside those gladius cases are 5 gladiator cards which are untradeable as well.
- Only useable in brawls*: In the past they were only usable in brawls and you could only use one gladiator card in a brawl fight. But as the * already suggests, nowadays you can use them in normal fights as well, if the rule that you can use 1 gladiator is active or when you're using one of those latest rare reward summoners.
- Strong cards: In the past gladiator cards were the only ones which had the bloodlust ability, which could be considered as a rather strong ability. Nowadays 'normal' cards could have bloodlust as well. But there are still some very strong gladiator cards, think about Quora towershead for example.
I've talked enough about what is so special about gladius cases and their gladiator cards. Let's head over to what was inside my gladius case:
My opening: number 1
As you can see I got three rare gladiator cards and two normal gladiator cards. So I guess this opening is better than average. Ofcourse I am always hoping for some Gold foiled gladiator cards and/or Quora Towershead and/or legendary gladiator cards. But yes, we can't be disappointed with this opening neither. Although I have to admit I'll probably not use the ranged monsters often. As their bloodlust is very nice ofcourse but only if it gets triggered. As they are ranged, they won't be able to attack from the first position so it will stop triggering its bloodlust ability. But as you can see in above picture, there is also Katrelba Gobson which is a melee monster with the sneak ability. Besides the obvious bloodlust and the sneak abilities, she has doublie strike as well. This is a card which I'll probably be able to use in battle to turn them in my favor!
My opening: number 2
This time I was less lucky, just one rare and 4 normal monsters. Can't always be too lucky I guess... Again a ranged monster for which I don't see that much of use so far. Than e monster without attack, as I don't have monsters yet with 'Weapons training' ability, I don't see any usecase for this one as well. Sidenote: 'Weapons claim' gives the adjacent monsters without an attack half of its attack. This way, monsters without attack could receive magic or melee or ranged attack. I got another Katrelba Gobson as well. Not that bad to have some doubles to level them up in the future, as I'll need some more copies. At the moment of writing, our arena is level 4, which means we can use up to bronze level gladiator cards, so I'm safe on that! :D
Thanks for reading my article and I hope to soon be able to open more gladius cases! :D
How did I begin to play Splinterlands?
It all began in December 2021, I was a bit bored and was looking for a new game to play on my laptop. After googling a bit, I saw the term play2earn in my google results. I didn't know it at that time but it seemed awesome, earning money while playing games instead of spending money on those games. Soon I learned that play2earn means that you can indeed earn some money to play the games. How does it work? While playing those games, you can earn NFT's of those games. These NFT's can be traded and sold for cryptocurrencies which could be swapped for fiat if you would like to. That's how I started.
Do you want to try out Splinterlands aswell?
