Hi all, good day to all of you. It's time again for Community Engagement Challenge. Today's challenge topic is to write a guide on increasing card levels by combining cards. I think this will be something important for new players and also a good reference for existing players.
Levelling Up Cards
To start levelling up cards, you need to have multiple copies of them in order to combine them and increase the levels to unlock bigger stats and also possibly new abilities to unlock which could make the cards give a lot more level.
How to Combine and Level Up?
Before we trigger the level up, we need to study the stats page of the card we want to combine and upgrade.
Focus your attention on the "cards" column. In order to move to the next level, what you need the card itself plus the number of cards shown in the cards column.
E.g if you would like to level up Orella Abadon, the total number of cards you need will be 6. (Base card + 5 other cards)

Priorities
Summoners Open The Level Cap for The Cards
Hang on! Before we move to the next section, there is one more thing that we need to pay attention before being we go do the normal cards. This is because there is a level cap for cards that can be played based on the level of the summoner. So we also need to be aware of the summoner's level as well. Otherwise, the levelled up cards will still reflect as per the level cap of the summoner for each rarity that the summoner can handle at its own level. So it is also important that we level up summoner cards as well so that we can fully utilized the levelled up normal cards.
As such, in terms of priorities, my take is to do summoners first if you are able to, so as to unlock the overall team potential, otherwise whatever efforts and accumulation we do will go in vain and not see the effects required.
Game Changers
After securing the lifted base for summoners, next will be to work on cards have the ability to change games or able to unlock a new ability upon levelling up. Some card gaining one level might probably just give you a weak stat boost which might not create a big impact on the game.
Here are some examples of cards that can bring much added value upon levelling up:
Olivia of The Brook - Mimic only appears at level 2 and it is really strong so such a card if possible should be prioritised to level 2
Quilliun Legendary - Thorns is gained at level 2 allowing this card to be a good tail end card to give sneakers a taste of their own medicine.
Ujurak Brave - Gains silence at level 4 which will further substantiate the -1 magic from Thaddius Brood, Chaos Legion Death Summoner
Djinn Oshannus - How can I forget my favourite card whom becomes such a difficult card to hit upon gaining Phase at level 2
Strategies to Obtain More Cards
Obtaining more copies of cards can be done in a few ways based on what cards are they and typically it is rather clear cut. Rule of thumb is just to be active as you will get glint and SPS and from there you can spend the glint or even convert the SPS to DEC to make the card purchase.
Soul Bound Reward Cards - Play more matches, stake more SPS, get glint and spend at glint shop to get more draws for additional copies.
Gladius Card - Take part in brawls to earn merits. Otherwise play more matches to earn more glint, rewards chest do drop merits as part of the rewards.
Standard Cards from sets - Booster packs if you do not have a particular card that you wanna buy but just wanna bulk up your collection otherwise, buy directly from the market.
Wrap Up
Cards have levels and should be utilized instead of just playing everything at level 1. Levelled up cards do have better stats and gain strong abilities that can change the game. But always remember, without a levelled up summoner to unlock the potential of the lineup to use higher level cards, you cannot fully utilize the increased stat or new abilities unlock to better your gameplay.
Stay focus, get your summoner levels high and in parallel work on the game changing cards to their respective levels and start dominating the battlefield!
