Prelude
Good day to all, hope that all of you are having a good week so far and having many memorable battles in Splinterlands. It's almost the end of July as we embark into the month of August. The year sure progress way faster than I imagined. Today would like to share on a match that showcases how I managed to overcome a full suite of range attackers that my opponent prepared for me against my own lineup.
So let's see how the match turn out.

Selection Analysis
We have 2 splinters available for selection - Water and Death. For me, actually the fewer the better, at least in terms of thinking what I would meet, it is better rather than thinking what can appear if it was coming from a big array of cards. With this setup, recently I like to play with water splinter.
So here is my selection of the lineup. I've chosen to go with Gorgug The Endless from Orc Bloodline which reduces the range attack from my opponent and at the same time give some enraging boost to the orcs. Steppe Stalker took the tank position because this card has close range and allows it to attack even when at first position. Next is the dual attack (melee and range) card Thraghun and this double attack is actually very important in this match. To ensure better survivability, the next 3 cards in the lineup each have their own value. First will be Archer Koi which has repair and this is important as the 2 cards before it both have armour, so it will be able to refresh their armour. Following which is Mar Torren Seeker which has dodge and will come in handy whe we are almost being cleared up and this can provide some survivability should we lose all the cards in front. Lastly is Razorhound with strengthen ability to give everyone in the lineup an additional health.
On my opponent end, my opponent used Zeddica which allowed the use of both death and water splinter cards. Death Ranger was used as the tank though it cannot attack due to lacking close range ability. Steppe Stalker is their 2nd card which I thought should the first position card. Opponent also used Razorhound for that extra health. Next is Mar Torren Trader with the high damage output and the never miss New Sskah Drudge. Last in the lineup is a card that I do not like to face, which is Henchling Enforcer that is capable of halving your attacks upon hit. My opponent also had a very well rounded but mainly focus on offence abilities.
Comparing the lineup, mine was more defensively setup versus what my opponent had in mind. I know it is not going to be easy but let's see how things unfold as we dive into the round by round and see what worked better.
Round by Round Synopsis
Round 1 - Henchling Enforcer struck and my Steppe Stalker is down to a single attack but nevertheless, it survived and and both lineup started pushing down each tank to access the next since it has fog of war.
Round 2 - Both tanks fell during this turn and we are on to my Thraghun that will stand in the tank position and using melee attack instead of range attack. With only 3 more cards behind it, will we be able to handle the offensive barrage?
Round 3 - Thraghun holding up strong as it clears opponent Steppe Stalker and being supported by Archer Koi for the repair to keep it alive. Things look a little more even right now.
Round 4, Thraghun continued holding strong and this round we successfully cleared Razhorhound and everything looked within reach right now as we continue to expose card after card.
Round 5 and 6, Within the last 2 rounds, it was just clearing up whatever that was left and my remaining cards all stayed in tact which is really good as we wrap up the match in style.
Battle Summary
The -1 range from Archon was key, significantly reduce the attack from opponent cards and at the same time, Thraghun and Archer Koi just repeat the cycle on attacking and refreshing of armour to keep the lineup intact. Personally, I would say if we have the cards to loop a combo and cycle through, defensive seem to be a much better strategy to adopt.
