Let's go to another Battle Mage Secrets event, this time the chosen rule is the Back To Basics, this rule is funny and transforms the match into a simple fight without any trickery, I'm very late with these posts, one day I'll catch up with them 😅.

🌟 Back to Basics 🌟
Rule | Description |
---|---|
Back to Basics | Monsters lose all abilities. |
Back To Basics is a simple rule, where none of the units' abilities will work here, it's worth remembering that the abilities and bonuses on the summoner's attributes still remain on the field, that powerful Yodin blast is still obliterating the opposing units 😂.
Knowing that no ability except summoner's will work here, any card that has no ability will come out ahead when this rule appears, cards like (Magi of Chaos, Nerissa Tridawn, Kulu Swimhunter, Djinn Apprentice etc.), some cards with high attributes are also excellent choices here.
The standard formation always goes well in matches like this, with a melee attack card as tank, two cards with magic damage and very robust to be off-tanks, and then fill in the best DPS you have (ranged or magic attack) to close the lineup.
No skills here today 😅, just pure combat with no tricks 😀.

⚔️ My Team ⚔️

Card | LineUP |
---|---|
![]() | Summoner : One of the best defensive summoners in the modern format, as I will certainly be facing many magical units, its skills will be of great help. |
![]() | Tank : Following the idea of putting the most robust cards in the front, I chose this djinn to tank, but I think it was a bad move, because the Time Meddler was more resistant. |
![]() | Off-Tank: A card with excellent attributes for its mana cost, the only weakness is that it has no abilities, but with the back to basics rule present in the game this weakness was nullified 😃. |
![]() | Off-Tank: A resistant card that uses magic attacks to defend itself, it could be occupying the tank position in this line-up. |
![]() | DPS : My magic attack options were running out and at least it's hitting with 2 damage, came just to complete the team. |
![]() | DPS: Strong magic damage, it's in the last positions to stay alive as long as he can. |
![]() | DPS: Strong ranged damage and very robust, it will take a long time to die with the return damage from the Fire & Regret rule. |

🤜The Battle 🤛
Analyzing the match: As expected my opponent came with 3 units with magic damage, the void armor ability of my summoner will help a lot here, another detail is that the opponent's cards are very fragile and if I can get through the tank and off tank easily I will defeat the remaining cards.
Round 1 - A round with a lot of slaughter, my djinn Renova was knocked out halfway through the round and near the end I defeated the opposing tank, the rounds will be very fast 😄.
Round 2 - This round seems like a mirror image of the previous one, with my tank being knocked out and then my opponent's, I lost the Magi of Chaos and he lost the Moltel ash.
Round 3 - In this round things have changed a bit, this time only Lava Laucher was knocked out, now I have the advantage in this game, because I have more damage and HP on the table, something very important in matches with the Back To Basics rule.
Round 4 - The round begins with my sheriff killing the opposing Magi of Chaos and soon after my Time Meddler is also knocked down, in the last move of the round Adelade eliminates the Djinn Apprentice. Now I have a good advantage.
Round 5 - Finally the victory came, there was no way the opponent could win, because I had 5 magic damage on the table and these attacks never miss, it was just a matter of waiting for the combat to end.

🎊 Conclusion 🎊
I consider this Back To Basics rule one of the most boring in the game, even so it has its moments of brilliance, it's a simply beatdown, respecting the basic positioning rules of the game, sometimes it can be very interesting to see, it gets pretty insane if you also have the Silenced Summoners rule where even the summoners won't have abilities 😂.
Even making the game simple there is still a place for mistakes if you are not careful, I even made one and lost two cards with a higher damage for a simple positioning error (I should have put the Time Meddler to be tank), another thing that may surprise you is the summoner, nowadays we have a huge variety of them to play, and the trend is getting larger and larger the options of skills that they will bring.
