One by one, heads turned to look, the boss's bewildered expression mirroring the confusion of those in the room. A murmur filled the room, the whispering was noticeable, people leaning in close to each other, very close to their ears. The head of the “CyS” Group investigation company hung up the call in a rage.
His gaze had turned furious, living up to his nickname "the fire-breathing dragon of Jhundan." Flashes of anger reached each of the partners and top-level employees.
Suddenly, the nervousness of those present was overshadowed by the cell phone ringtone. Once again, the sound of that feminine, even childish melody echoed off the walls of the room.
"What the hell is going on here?" he exploded, asking you, boss, and slamming his fist on the table. Mr. Johnson's gaze reflected fear, and the folders and the cup of cold coffee in front of him jumped.
The boss then answered the call, but not before pressing the speaker button. He wanted his partners to hear how the prankster was nervous in front of him.
"Who the hell is calling?" the boss began, already visibly enraged.
He looked at the cell phone on the table. It was clearly his, but the ringtone melody did not belong to him.
"Answer it, damn it!" he exclaimed, now nervous. All he could think about was finding out who was playing the prank and making them pay, whoever it was.
On the other end of the line, a faint, almost inaudible voice could be heard. One of the partners suggested that the boss turn up the volume on the cell phone so they could hear better.
The boss, with the phone in his hands, pressed the volume button, turning it up to the maximum. When he did, he finally heard the voice, and his previously serious face turned completely pale.
"Sir... sir, please help me!" said a child on the other end of the line, his broken voice reflecting terror. In the background, the sounds of rain and thunder added to the mystery and confusion among those present.
It wasn't raining, but on the other end of the line, a storm could be heard. Everyone began to speculate and ended up saying that he was surely in another city or even another country. The conversation among those present fell silent when they heard the boy again.
"Do Jung Song, I know you can hear me. You must save Mom. This time you must save Mom. Don't let your story repeat itself," said the boy on the other end.
The boss, open-mouthed, then remembered the tragedy on the day of the storm. In his mind were the vivid and latent episodes. Amidst thunder, a mob of thugs had entered the kitchen. His mother was looking for the flashlight. The power had gone out in that storm, and the darkness had created the perfect setting.
When those strangers entered, they shot his mother, while he, hidden in an old basket, watched everything through the slats.
"Come on, don't let Mommy die, do something, do something!" the boy replied from behind the line. Suddenly, the same ringtone sounded on the other end. That Barbie melody was the one his mother used, and it only rang when his father called.
Amid the uncertainty, a gunshot was heard amid the rumble of thunder, and for the last time, the boss heard the boy's voice on the other end of the line.
"Don't forget, Do Jung Song, Dad killed Mom!" At that moment, the call was cut off, and the boss's repressed memories returned. He wasn't crazy; everyone had heard the same thing.
Suddenly, the tense calm was broken when the boss's father entered through the door, and those present could only wait for the outcome they all expected.
Don't forget, Do Jung Song, don't forget!
The dragon of Jhundan, with his angry gaze, looked at his mother's killer, and his blood slowly boiled, crying out for vengeance.

“Durante la reunión secreta de alto riesgo, el teléfono de alguien sonó con la canción principal de Barbie Girl, y era el tono de llamada del jefe.”
Las cabezas, una a una, se incorporaron para ver, la mirada desconcertada del jefe expresaba el mismo desconcierto de los miembros en la sala. El murmullo se apoderó del lugar, el cuchicheo era notorio, se acercaban unos a otros, muy cercano a sus oídos. El jefe de la compañía de investigaciones “CyS group” cortó la llamada furioso.
Su mirada se había tornado furiosa, hacía cátedra a su apodo “el dragón lanza fuegos de Jhundan” destellos de ira llegaban a cada uno de los socios y empleados de máximo nivel.
De pronto la escena de nerviosismo por parte de los presentes se vio opacada por el ringtone del celular. Nuevamente el sonido de aquella melodía femenina y hasta infantil hacía eco en las paredes de la sala.
-¿Qué carajos ocurre aquí?- explotó preguntándote jefe propinando un golpe a la mesa. La mirada del Sr Johnson reflejo temor, ante él saltaron las carpetas y la taza de café frío que estaba delante de él mismo.
El jefe entonces atendió la llamada, no sin antes presionar el altavoz, quería que sus socios escucharan como el bromista caía nervioso ante él.
-¿Quién demonios llama?- inició diciendo el jefe ya notoriamente enfurecido.
Miraba el teléfono celular en la mesa, era el suyo notoriamente, pero la melodía del ringtone no le pertenecía.
-¡Qué respondas, con un carajo!- exclamó ahora nervioso, lo único que pensaba era en saber quien jugaba la broma y hacerlo pagar fuese quien fuese.
Del otro lado de la línea de forma difusa se logró escuchar una débil voz, casi inaudible, uno de los socios le insinuó al jefe diera un poco más de volumen al celular y así se podría escuchar mejor.
El jefe con el teléfono en su manos, presionó el botón de volumen subiéndolo al máximo, al hacerlo por fin escuchó y su rostro antes serio palideció por completo.
-¡Señor….señor, por favor ayúdeme!- decía un niño al otro lado de la línea, si voz entrecortada reflejaba terror, de fondo los sonidos de la lluvia y los truenos daban el toque de misterio y desconcierto entre los presentes.
No estaba lloviendo, pero al otro lado de la línea se escuchaba una tormenta. Todos comenzaron a sacar conjeturas y terminaron diciendo que de seguro estaba en otra ciudad o hasta país, la plática de los presentes se silencio al escuchar al niño nuevamente.
-Do Jung Song, sé que me escuchas, debes salvar a mamá, esta vez debes salvar a mamá, no dejes que tú historia se repita– dijo el niño al otro lado.
El jefe boquiabierto recordó entonces la tragedia el día de la tormenta. En su mente estaban los episodios vividos y latentes, en medio de un trueno hacia ingresado una turba de maleantes, allí en la cocina, su madre buscaba la linterna, la luz se había ido en aquella tormenta y la oscuridad había creado el perfecto escenario.
Cuando aquellos desconocidos ingresaron, acribillaron a su madre, mientras él, escondido en un cesto de nombre antiguo, observaba todo por entre las ranuras del mismo.
-¡Vamos, no dejes que mami muera haz algo, haz algo!- replicaba el niño tras la línea, de pronto el mismo ringtone sonó del otro lado, aquella melodía de Barbie era la usaba su madre y solo sonaba cuando su padre llamaba.
En medio de la incertidumbre se escuchó un disparo en medio del retumbar de un trueno y por última vez el jefe escuchó la voz del niño al otro lado de la línea.
-¡No olvides Do Jung Song, papá mató a mamá!- en ese momento la llamada se cortó y allí los recuerdos reprimidos del jefe retornaron. No estaba loco, todos habían escuchado lo mismo.
De pronto la tensa calma se vio apagada cuando al abrir la puerta el padre del jefe ingresó y los presentes solo atinaron a esperar el desenlace qué todos suponían.
¡No lo olvides Do Jung Song, no lo olvides!
