A mi hijo le regalaron un mazo de cartas alusivas a las tortugas Ninjas para jugar memoria, y aunque es un juego que se puede hacer a solas, él me invitó a que jugáramos unas cuantas partidas, por lo que dejé a un lado mi publicación a medio hacer (de hecho, no publiqué ayer) para dedicarme a este juego que parece simple, pero luego vi que no lo es tanto.
Dispusimos las cartas volteadas sobre una superficie plana, y empezamos a voltear por turnos, un par de ellas al azar, de manera de ir viendo el orden de las mismas, para en algún momento conseguir la pareja.
No era mi primera vez jugando memoria, pero si tenía mucho tiempo sin hacerlo, por eso en la primera ronda, mi hijo ganó sin ningún problema. Quizás también estaba distraída pensando en todo lo que tenía pendiente por hacer, así que la verdad es que aunque parece fácil, debes poner toda tu atención en las cartas volteadas para dar con las parejas cuando son descubiertas por el oponente.
Hicimos 4 rondas, pues también teníamos pendiente ver una película luego de cenar. Hemos establecido esa rutina los domingos de manera de compartir un rato sin necesidad de gastar dinero. En la segunda ronda ganó también él, pero solo por lograr una pareja más que yo.
Ví como mi memoria a corto plazo está fallando de alguna manera, y eso me hizo pensar en qué estoy dejando de practicar en la vida diaria para que eso suceda, quizás es también un llamado de atención hacia eventos dejados al descuido, o en un panorama más radical, una alarma hacia la pérdida de memoria producto del poco descanso o de las múltiples obligaciones.
Sin embargo, en la tercera ronda le di pelea, y tuve una buena racha de parejas encontradas, solo que el par decisivo, lo hizo volver a ganar. Pero en la última, cuando ya me estaba impacientando un poco por llevar solo partidas perdidas, logré un empate, con el cual me quedé relativamente satisfecha.
Fue en ese momento cuando recibí la llamada semanal de mi madre, y pues tocó dejar para otra noche el juego, ya que terminando de hablar por teléfono, tocó hacer la cena y ver unos cuantos capítulos de una serie animada, ya con eso, terminamos nuestra noche de juegos. Ahora solo queda agudizar un poco más la vista y la memoria, para la siguiente oportunidad.

We played 4 rounds, as we also planned to watch a movie after dinner. We've established that routine on Sundays to spend time together without spending money. In the second round, he also won, but only by managing to find one more pair than me.
I noticed how my short-term memory is somehow failing, and it made me wonder what I'm neglecting in my daily life that may cause that, maybe it's also a wake-up call regarding neglected events, or on a more drastic note, an alarm about memory loss due to lack of rest or multiple obligations.
However, in the third round, I put up a good fight and had a nice streak of matching pairs, but he ended up winning again with the decisive pair. But in the last round, when I was starting to get a bit impatient after losing several rounds, I achieved a tie, which left me relatively satisfied.
It was at that moment when I received my mother's weekly call, so we had to postpone the game to another night. After finishing the call, it was time to prepare dinner and watch a few episodes of an animated series, and with that, we ended our game night. Now, I just need to sharpen my vision and memory a bit more for the next opportunity.
