This data is from 1 July, 2025 through to 22 July 2025. We all know that each HIVE application, or front end has a different user base, and different styles of posting that is typical of its users. For example, some applications might be used to create posts primarily on a phone, where longer form content is more difficult to arrange.
This post is going to explore the differences in content on each platform, to give us an interesting baseline of what the typical user of the top HIVE applications in each category tends to do.
This is the first time I'm splitting some of my metrics by application, so there will be room for improvement in the visualisations, for sure! I am open to that feedback.
Before we get into the detail:
While peakd and ecency account for about half the post volume, Posts on peakd get significantly more of the reward share. A lot of posts are made from actifit, and they get a smaller chunk of the rewards. These posts are typically shorter, as we will se as we go deeper into the data. Conclusion: users who post using peakd tend to punch above their weight in terms of content rewards.
First, I want to look at word counts by platform. Where do we find the longest content, by word count? We will start by looking at the different word groupings.
Firstly, for posts with 0-50 words: (Top 10, Month to Date)
Three apps here lead the way, with the top posts split between @ecency, @peakd , and @liketu.
pizzabot and dBuzz have a bit of noise in this category. Perhaps they should be excluded, as I believe these may be comments instead of top-level posts, and my filtering may have missed them. This is a potential improvement if I choose to rereun this report.
When we look at the data for the last week, as opposed to month to date, we can see a further breakdown of the types of posts per app, in the word count category:
50 words, last week:
Biggest payout for a post under 50 words? $47. It was on 3speak, so clearly, a video piece - and that's fine! :) This is what a deeper analysis of the reward data can reveal.
For posts with 51-99 words: (Top 10, Month to Date)
ecency moves to third, and liketu's share is much, much lower. peakd is still in a strong position, but actifit and distriator lead the way for this category. It is probably important to note that the actifit posts typically use a template, so that would make up for much of the word count, as opposed to it being true user generated content.
100 words, last week:
Biggest payout for a post under 100 words? Something written on peakd at $118, narrowly edging out a Poshbot post. The most posts in this category were in actifit, followed by ecency and distriator. There is a low number of average replies, suggesting that this content doesn't generate much discussion. There's a few pictures included, but it goes down compared to the posts under 50 words.
For posts with 100-249 words: (Top 10, Month to Date)
ecency remains king at less than 250 words, getting the bulk of posts published using its platform. peakd comes in second, and hivebog third. There's still a lot of actifit posts, and then fewer and fewer posts on the other platforms / applications.
<250 words last week:
Ecency and Peakd have the bulk of content, but hiveblog comes in swinging, too. Something published using ecency has the highest reward at $58, and we see a small uptick in the number of replies. The number of images also increases over the previous category.
For posts with <500 words (Top 10, Month to Date)
ecency is in the lead, but it is a naarrow one. hiveblog has a bunch of content, before we see a fall off to the other platforms.
<500 words last week:
The highest reward here goes to something published using ecency. The highest engagement on average, goes to 3speak. ecency's lead in terms of number of posts does not conclude in a lead in the amount of payout, suggesting that people following users of that platform may not have as much voting power as those publishing using peakd.
For posts with <750 words (Top 10, Month to Date)
peakd and ecency, again, hold a commanding lead over the platforms, being a top choice for authors publishing content of this length. liketu and hiveblog are closely matched.
<750 words last week:
The highest award goes to a post on ecency, and it gets pretty high engagement, just as 3 speak leads that category in this ... uh... category. The bulk of rewards in this category are still earned by users who publish using peakd, but ecency punches strongly in its class, but could possibly do with more reward for the quantity of its engagement - the quality of that engagement, however, is something that is not known to me.
For posts with <1000 words (Top 10, Month to Date)
Here, we see liketu start to fall off a little bit, and peakd gets a lead over ecency as wordcounts increase.
<1000 words last week:
The highest post reward goes to peakd based publisher(s), but ecency is the most engaged platform. There are not many posts published outside of these two leading platforms, and that seems to be reflected in the other categories, too. actifit has a lot of images, probably owing to the templates used in those posts, and users posting photographs of their day.
For posts with <1500 words (Top 10, Month to Date)
peakd and ecency dominate this word count category by a large margin.
<1500 words last week:
peakd leads the way for max pay, post count, but does not take the lead for engagement. ecency is a close second, in all things, except rewards. liketu and hiveblog have a meagre share, not as meagre as the other platforms like 3peak and actifit. 3speak maintains strong engagement, with a high level of replies.
For posts with <2000 words (Top 10, Month to Date)
peakd has more than half of the posts in this category, with ecency a close second. I am honestly surprised at how little usage hiveblog gets compared to the more "modern" platforms (or rather the ones I have no experience in using). 3 speak has very few posts in this category, which is understandable given its focus as a video platform.
<2000 words last week:
The highest engagement is so close between peakd and ecency, and peakd, again, takes the prize for the highest payout. Interestingly, there is a convergence of the average number of images on each of these posts, with them all being very similar.
For posts with <2500 words (Top 10, Month to Date)
Not a lot of posts in this category, compared to the others. peakd leads the way, as does ecency. Then, we see a sharp drop off to other platforms.
<2500 words last week:
The highest rewards, goes to an ecency publisher, who have the highest engagement outside of 3speak. We see a lot of images on a 3speak post, which I think may be an outlier in the dataset. peakd is very closely tied with ecency here. It makes me think (as someone who hasn't used ecency before) that ecency must be very easy to engage on, or perhaps authors that use that platform tend to be better at replying.
For posts with >2501 words (Top 10, Month to Date)
Someone wrote >2501 words using actifit? That's dedication. They were not rewarded very handsomely for it. Someone did it four times in a month, and someone did it twice in the last week. Long form content tends to read best on peakd (in my opinion) - and hiveblog is of course, just the publishing method, not the consumption method, but I wonder why those posts have significantly lower engagement.
>2501 words last week:
Here we see the resurgence of hiveblog, for the long, long posts. Interestingly, they don't seem to be rewarded nearly as highly as peakd. A quick glance suggests this could have something to do with the amount of engagement, with authors posting on peakd getting 12x the engagement, and have ten times the number of images. The highest reward is on peakd which makes sense, given the existing trends already illustrated in the data.
