A teraz przejdźmy do najważniejszej części związanej z wyścigiem, Max Verstappen wygrał po raz 10 z rzędu co, bije wszystkie rekordy a sam Redbull, wygrał, 15 razy z rzędu co stanowi, ogromną ilość w ciągu całego sezonu i wszystkich dotychczas lat ścigania się.
Na początku kwalifikacje, w których to Alpine odpadło w Q1 wcześniej taka sytuacja, wydarzyła się na torze w 2016 roku w Singapurze, czy to nagły spadek formy, czy może nowe poprawki pogorszyły bolid? Podczas gdy Red Bull Racing unikał wprowadzania zupełnie nowego pakietu skrzydeł o małym docisku, wybierając np. jedynie przycięcie w tylnym górnej klapy, Ferrari przywiozło do Monzy specjalne skrzydło o znacznie bardziej płaskim profilu niż zwykle w przypadku obecnej generacji samochodów. Aby lepiej zrównoważyć samochód, Ferrari dość znacząco przycięło do tego górną klapę przedniego spojlera. Zespół postanowił również wprowadzić świeże jednostki napędowe na ten weekend, wiedząc, że taki ruch zapewnia nieco więcej mocy. Po długim okresie bez punktów od Grand Prix Kanady, minionej niedzieli mieli powód do świętowania. Bottas był „naprawdę zadowolony” z tego jednego oczka.
