i have taken all these photos with our lumix fz 300
sunsets anywhere can be beautiful but sunsets at the beach are often special. when there are no clouds the magic of the sun sinking in the water is mesmerizing. in addition the reflection of light on the surface of the water adds another dimension.
and when there are clouds the flat uninterrupted horizon of the sea exposes a maximum amount of sky often with wonderfully colorful displays of light and dark
i took this series of photos in july on arawali beach on the west coast of southern mahrashtra, india. july is monsoon season and the sky is usually totally gray for a few months but once in a while there is a break in the weather and when that happens in the evening the sunsets can be spectacular.
during the drier seasons the beach is a popular tourist holiday attraction but monsoon time there are no tourists. not only is there heavy rains for days on end but the sea becomes too rough for swimming. so monsoon time the 4,5 km long beach is empty apart from a few locals who are weary of staying indoors weeks at a time.
so the feeling of being alone surrounded by such magnificent beauty is something we will never forget
