Well the Titans made a pretty bold move this evening! They trade right up to #33 in a deal with the Arizona Cardinals, at the top of the second round to select somewhat controversial QB Will Levis.
Controversial might be a strong word. Will's stock went up as the Draft approached. There were recent rumors he could be selected as high as #1 when a few months ago he was projected roughly as a second round choice. While his stock rose, more and more spotlight came upon him. He made some silly videos on the internet and also came off as cocky to a lot of people.
When you combine some of those off the field shenanigans with people being opinionated on Will Levis as a player, you simply get a volcano of opinions being shared online.
Will Levis actually had a better 2021 than 2022. What people often forget to take into account is that many of Levis's teammates left in 2021 AND Levis had an entirely new offensive coordinator in 2022. So there were some struggles for Levis last season and he was injured much of the time as well. I've heard many people say if Levis entered the Draft in 2021, he would likely have been a top five pick.
I personally ranked Will as #1 for QBs in this draft! Albeit, I didn't do INSANE research before making the list, but still. Also interestingly, well known Draft 'expert' had Will as his #1 QB as well.
I mean, when you watch Levis's highlights, they really are pretty awesome. The dude can make all the throws. He's tough and athletic with proper size for a pro QB. He seems smart and pretty focused in my opinion as well. He reminds me of like a Justin Herbert/Ryan Tannehill/Ben Roethlisberger. Ideally, hopefully better than those guys one day LOL.
I know these are just highlights, and highlights can make any decent player look pretty good. But still, nobody can tell me this isn't pretty damn impressive.
Will has had a long, sort of interesting college career which I believe may benefit him. He redshirted his freshman year with Penn State, was mainly a backup there for two seasons, until he transferred to Kentucky where he was the team's starter for two seasons.
Levis finished his college career playing in 38 total games. He compiled nearly 6,000 passing yards with 46 Touchdowns-25 INTS while adding 17 more scores by foot.
Levis is from the New England area and he played high school ball in Connecticut. Many college people often scoff at prospects from Connecticut, I guess due to the state's small population or something. I really don't know.
So Levis was doubted in high school to college, doubted in college, now he's been doubted going to the NFL.....
I believe this will motivate him greatly!
Plus, growing up in New England, perhaps he grew up admiring Brady, LOL. Maybe that's a good thing, I don't know.
All in all I really like this pick man. With Tannehill there, even Malik Willis in the mix and Vrabel and the Titans culture in general, I think Levis could be a top NFL talent.
If Levis went to a huge market to start right away I think it could be tougher for him.
There's a loooooot of Titans fans that HATE this pick. I don't agree or get it.
Even Peyton Manning reportedly likes Levis....
This is an interesting pick and it will make this offseason much more interesting.....
