I was a bit stumped on what I wanted to do for a walk this week. I'm getting a bit bored of hanging around in our yard, but for a number of reasons (mainly our car situation), not many opportunities to stroll elsewhere have been available. But when I was putting together the first of my posts from my WordPress Vault, it occurred to me that it might be cool to see if I could find some pictures from back when we first moved into this place in 2012, and compare them shots from today.
After a bit of a search, I came up with eight photos from November 2013, 2015, and 2016 that I thought would make for good comparison shots. Then I waited until mid afternoon today because I'd heard a rumor the grey sky would give way to sunshine. And the sun did peek out a bit, so I suppose the rumor wasn't completely off. 😂
But before I get to the photos from my old and new wanderings, a quick shout out to Wednesday Walk host, @tattoodjay - be sure to hop over and take a peek at his latest, Wednesday Walk Small details of nature which has some wicked cool macro shots.
Last bit - these were taken with either my my old Olympus camera (for pretty much all the wayback shots) or my Nikon affixed to my tripod, in my Durham New Hampshire yard. All were resized, then cleaned up a bit with PicMonkey - mostly the exposure and sharpness.

A Wayback Wednesday Walk... with a twist!
Â
Â
1. This shot was taken in the woods behind our house, on November 11th, 2013.
Â
Â
1a. I didn't realize how difficult it would be to recreate the photo, because I thought it would be easy to find the exact same spot/angle. However with the sun making a brief appearance, it made it a bit tougher to match, since I couldn't quite see what I was aiming at.
Â
Â
2. Another from the same day - November 11th, 2013.
Â
Â
2a. And another tough one to get right - seems my old camera had more of a panoramic view (which I don't recall being one of the settings), but this is sorta close.
Â
Â
3. From November 12th, 2015 and a view I've share a bazillion times over the years - the edge of the yard between our place and our landlady's house.
Â
Â
3a. What a difference six years and five days makes. I thought the foliage had hung around longer than usual this year, but apparently not. Although we did just have some nasty wind/rain storms over the past week, which probably didn't help.
Â
Â
4. Another from November 12th 2015 - love the blue sky behind the golden trees.
Â
Â
4a. Although bare branches against a stormy sky looks pretty cool too. Had another tough time getting the angle of this one right, but they are the same trees.
Â
Â
5. Last one from November 12th, 2015 - this is from the side of our yard looking into the woods.
Â
Â
5a. Still little hints of color, but today looks much different.
Â
Â
6. Same shot but pointed down towards the woods more, and taken on November 16th, 2016. You can see some sliced of bread I'd scattered for my crows in the bottom left corner.
Â
Â
6a. No bread today (especially given all the bear sightings this year - including in our yard back in July!).
Â
Â
7. This was the hill I was standing on while taking the previous shot, on November 16th 2016.
Â
Â
7a. However after the aforementioned storms, and our landlady's brother making a point of doing lots of leaf blowing this year, the yard isn't carpeted today.
Â
Â
7b. However when I was down in the woods taking the first couple of shots, I noticed there was no shortage of leaves on the ground there!
Â
Â
8. The final wayback shot is from November 18th, 2016 and the caption of a nearby picture in the folder reminded me that in mid October 2016, I was down in that leaf covered clearing with our cat Sid (we took him out on leash to do his business), when my right knee tricked out. Long story short, my husband had to help me back up this hill, since I couldn't put any weight on it. Good times! 😬
Â
Â
8a. Happy to report that I managed to wander around the yard & woods today, taking these pictures, and did not need to be rescued again. 🤣
Â
Â
Okay, for giggles, I took a peek and found my old FB post talking about my "deranged" knee...
Â
Â
Â
Happy Wednesday walking without a knee brace everyone!
