When I first saw International Haiku Poetry Day listed as one of the holidays for tomorrow on Holiday Insights, I knew immediately what I wanted to do for it. But I was conflicted, because I've really been enjoying doing my Deep Dreaming posts for Sublime Sunday, so I decided to skip the "official" prompt for today and do my haiku a day ahead.
Oh, and before I go much further, I should probably mention the suggested daily prompt for Hive Blog Posting Month today is -
Tell a story, real or fiction, for Record Store Day
And I might still do that one at some point as well, but I digress. 😂
At any rate, when I saw "haiku" the first thing that popped in my brain was a bunch that I wrote for some weekly contests on Fxcebook around 2015. Not that they required haikus - all they actually required was that you "liked & shared" their contest post. I was hopeful that my ridiculous funny little poems might help get the attention of my then absolute all time favorite coffee company (I've expanded my circle since then...lol) & that I might get picked for one of the prizes.
I thought it was high time I put them someplace else other than FB, and went searching on my computer for them.
And discovered I already put them in a post on my WordPress blog back on March 20th 2017. 🤦♀
But since I was already hoping to get at least a few of my favorite WP blogs from years ago here during HiveBloPoMo, I figured I'd stick with the plan, and just take the old post, and give it a much needed update to the the links and graphics (the original screenshots I used were kind of meh and just showed the original FB posts from the company, not my replies).
So without further ado...
Almost Seven Coffee Contest Haikus
About this time a couple years back around five years ago, my favorite k-cup company San Francisco Bay Gourmet Coffee (when they were still called, Rogers Gourmet Coffee) started doing some of those "Like to Win" Fxcebook promotions. I got the idea in my head that if I included a related haiku with each entry, the coffee gods might smile favorably upon me, and reward my efforts with a win or three. Alas, after close to seven measly attempts (given the first two were so similar, more like six), I gave up hope and bought one of their 80 count boxes of Espresso Roast OneCups to drown my sorrows with.
After reading my WordPress blogging friend (and creator of the sorely missed SundayBlogShare tag on Twitter) Suzie's #ThrowbackThursday blog post, 46 Ideas To Beat Blogger’s Block, I was inspired to dig them up and share them for Microblog Monday. I even went through and screencapped the original FB posts, so you could see my inspiration (and not just because my kitchen was full of dirty dishes, and I was looking for an excuse to tell the family, "but I'm working on a blog post!").

Speaking of, the thumbnail picture for this post was my entry for the Help Your Mug Take A Selfie! contest (since the mug selfie I did for my Revisiting the Enchanting Coffee Spell from Llewellyn post wouldn't qualify without the printable flyer 😁). Nope, didn't win anything for that one either. 😜
Oh, and to be clear, this wasn't a sponsored post - I was just trying to bribe the coffee gods into throwing some contest winning luck my way.
