About two years ago the Youtube algorithm recommended a video to me. Perhaps because I consume a lot of videos of travellers, I was struck by the one of a guy who was taking a tour of a neighbourhood in Barcelona. The title pointed out that it was the most dangerous neighbourhood in the city. That aroused my curiosity, as it was something different from the travel videos I was used to seeing.
I remember that the cover was a man lying on the ground, looking drugged or in a state of destitution. After watching it, I liked the yotuber's style, walking around the neighbourhood, explaining things about that area. I went to check out his channel and found more videos, not only from Barcelona. There were also videos from other cities in Spain and other countries, like Bulgaria and France.
I started to follow him and to keep an eye on when he uploaded a new video. He had a good amount of views and quickly started to go up. Famous streamers and youtbers started to react to his videos, he was invited to Jordi Wild's podcast, which is the most successful Hispanic podcast on youtube and that helped him a lot to have more reach. It was noticeable in the increase of followers on his channel and also in the views. Views equals money and he surely noticed it in his bank account when Youtube paid him and it is curious that the Italian Zazza was about to give up being a youtuber but he got out of his comfort zone and managed to get noticed.
Hace unos dos años el algoritmo de Youtube me recomendó un vídeo. Quizá porque consumo muchos vídeos de viajeros, me llamó la atención el de un tipo que hacía un recorrido por un barrio de Barcelona. El título destacaba que era el barrio más peligroso de la ciudad. Eso despertó mi curiosidad, ya que era algo diferente a los vídeos de viajes que estaba acostumbrado a ver.
Recuerdo que la portada era un hombre tumbado en el suelo, parecía drogado o en estado de indigencia. Después de verlo, me gustó el estilo del yotuber, paseando por el barrio, explicando cosas de esa zona. Fui a ver su canal y encontré más vídeos, no sólo de Barcelona. También había vídeos de otras ciudades de España y de otros países, como Bulgaria y Francia.
Empecé a seguirle y a estar pendiente de cuando subía un nuevo vídeo. Tenía una buena cantidad de visitas y rápidamente empezó a subir. Famosos streamers y youtbers empezaron a reaccionar a sus videos, fue invitado al podcast de Jordi Wild, que es el podcast hispano de más éxito en youtube y eso le ayudó mucho a tener más alcance. Se notó en el aumento de seguidores de su canal y también en las vistas. Vistas es igual a dinero y él seguro que lo notó en su cuenta bancaria cuando Youtube le pagó y es curioso que el italiano Zazza estuvo a punto de renunciar a ser youtuber pero salió de su zona de confort y lo consiguió hacerse notar.

I remember an episode in which Zazza visits a neighbourhood in Palma de Mallorca, one of the neighbourhoods is called Corea (the other one I don't remember), where he meets two gypsy twins who play music and they end up becoming friends, they even have a family dinner in the street of the neighbourhood. Because they are dangerous areas, but it also shows the human side of the people who live there, workers, who for reasons of life have had to live in poor and dangerous areas. Thanks to this channel I have got to know through its images many neighbourhoods in Spain.
One of the videos that had the greatest impact on me, and which was also key in his rise to the top of the yotubers, was the one he filmed in Philadelphia. He went to visit the famous city of zombies. He toured the area where the fentanyl addicts are. That video was great and it's really heartbreaking. How sad it is to see how young people lose their lives because of that damn drug. That video was a boom, in one day I think it had over a million views and now I think it has 27 million views.
La mayoría de la gente que quiere ser yotutube empieza copiando el estilo de otros. Los primeros vídeos de Zazza los borró o los mantiene actualmente en privado, su contenido era totalmente diferente. Hacía retos que funcionaban para otros, pero no para él. Afortunadamente este joven italiano tuvo la osadía de experimentar con algo que muy pocos hispanohablantes estaban haciendo. Tomó los viajes, que es un nicho que tiene muchos consumidores, pero le agregó el elemento clave: el peligro. Visitando los lugares más peligrosos de diferentes ciudades y países.

Mirar para otro lado, hacer como si lo malo y lo feo no existieran. En todas partes, desde los países más ricos del mundo hasta los más pobres, hay lugares donde la gente convive con el peligro.
Recuerdo un episodio en el que Zazza visita un barrio de Palma de Mallorca, uno de los barrios se llama Corea. ( el otro no lo recuerdo) Allí contacto con dos gemelos gitanos que se dedican a la música y terminaron haciendose amigos, hasta una cena familiar en la calle del barrio hicieron. Porque son zonas peligrosas, pero también muestra el lado humano de la gente que vive allí, trabajadores, que por cosas de la vida han tenido que vivir en zonas pobres y peligrosas. Gracias a este canal he conocido a través de sus imágenes muchos barrios de España.
Uno de los vídeos que más me impactó y que también fue clave en su ascenso a la cima de los yotubers, fue el que grabó en Filadelfia. Fue a visitar la famosa ciudad de los zombies. Recorrió la zona donde están los adictos al fentanilo. Ese vídeo era genial y es realmente sobrecogedor. Qué triste es ver cómo los jóvenes pierden la vida por culpa de esa maldita droga. Ese vídeo fue un boom, en un día creo que había superado el millón de visitas y actualmente creo que tiene 27 millones de visitas.

¿Te atreverías a hacer algo parecido? Yo no lo haría. Este youtuber debe sentir placer por el peligro. En uno de sus vídeos, pasea por un barrio peligroso de Londres y los lugareños le dicen que está loco. ¿Por qué hace esto? En ese mismo vídeo, dos jóvenes con apariencia nada amigable le gritan cosas y empiezan a seguirle. Me viene a la mente otro vídeo, en una ciudad italiana, no recuerdo cuál, intentaron quitarle la cámara. Hay que tener un poco de sangre fría para ir a lugares peligrosos, arriesgándose a ser golpeado o incluso herido de muerte. Porque en sus viajes por América Latina ha estado en zonas realmente peligrosas y se ha relacionado con gente que probablemente ha hecho cosas muy malas.
Es en los barrios de América donde él mismo ha notado la gran diferencia con las zonas peligrosas del viejo continente. Lo que allí llaman peligro, en este lado del mundo es un juego de niños. Cuando habla con personas que viven allí y que han estado en antros de drogas o de prostitutas, estas son las afirmaciones que causan más impacto en sus vídeos.
Hace unos días vio uno de sus vídeos subidos recientemente. El video era en Guayaquil y la zona era una cercana al centro, donde abundan los robos y la prostitución.
Este youtuber es ahora muy conocido y tiene una exitosa trayectoria. Este año dio el salto a la televisión. Una cadena española le contrató para un programa llamado Apatrullando. No lo he visto, así que no puedo decir si es tan bueno como su canal de youtube. Si lo has visto, dime si merece la pena. Yo prefiere sus videos en Yotuube que no tienen tanta producción.
La polémica también ha tocado a este creador de contenidos. Hace un tiempo recibió duras críticas en las redes sociales porque en una entrevista por su visita a Centroamérica dijo que paga a prostitutas y que eso le gusta. Hubo un revuelo en las redes sociales y las feministas intentaron dañar su carrera. Creo que ahora está siendo un poco más cuidadoso para no decir nada que pueda herir la sensibilidad de la generación que le molesta todo.
