#MAcFiT is a cyclic competition. Therefore it needs a ranking system. You may noticed that I refer to it and that some players get "automatic admission" or "seeding in eliminations" based on the ranking. Here's how it works.
Fundamentals
The Ranking is rolling over 4 seasons and points are weighted on a 100%-75%-50%-25% basis. It means that:
- regular players are promoted
- history doesn't play, your current performance counts the most
Let's have a look at the ranking as of closing the last season (#5).
At the far right-hand side you will see the Total. It's a sum of four columns:
- "Season -1" is the season that just ended (#5). 100% of the points are taken in
- "Season -2" is the previous season (#4). 75% of points are taken in
- "Season -3" is Season #3. 50% of points are taken in
- "Season -4" is Season #2. 25% of points are taken in
Points from Season 1, are not taken into account any more.
Now we are in Season 6. So the Season 2 with 25% weight falls out and the remaining seasons are shifted right. Some players have already started collecting ranking points. They will have 100% weight. After Season 6 (current) ends, the table will be used to decide who get free admission and who is seeded in eliminations for Season 7 (next).
You will have noticed how some players shifted up and down. Players who got a lot points in Season 2, don't have the points any more. Let's now see how points awarded.
Points
Points are awarded in qualifiers and main phases of both Champions League and Consolation Cup.
Qualifiers
- 1pt for a win (including W/O and "bye")
- 0.5pt for a tie (except two-sided W/O - it's not considered a tie)
Some players start qualifiers from Round 2, some are exempted. They do not therefore collect points in eliminations. This is on purpose, so that players low in the rank or completely new have a chance to advance their rank positions.
Champions League
- 1pt for entering a round (group phase, quarterfinals, semifinals, final)
- 2pts for a win (including W/O)
- 1pt for a tie (except two-sided W/O)
- 1pt for winning the Final game
Consolation Cup
- 0.5pt for entering a round (Round of 16, Round of 8, quarterfinals, semifinals, final)
- 1pt for a win (including W/O)
- 0.5pt for a tie (except two-sided W/O)
- 0.5pt for winning the Final game
Where Rank Matters
Free Champions League Admission
Top 3 ranked players get automatic admission into next season.
If winners of Champions League and Consolation Cup are among the top three ranked, then the next highest ranked player takes the slot
@merthin won the Champions League, therefore the top 3 ranked players are @manuvert (rank 1), @masoom (3) and @browery (4)
Seeding in Round 2 of Champions League Eliminations
Next top 9 players, ranked after those with free admission. They start eliminations from Round 2 and are seeded there.
Again, if players who won a competition in previous season are among them, the positions are shifted.
@bucipuci won @poliac League One (and got a Wild Card - free admission into Season 6) and @grecki-bazar-ewy won the Consolation Cup. Therefore the 9 players who enter qualifiers from Round 2 are: @ptaku (rank 5), @ilodz24hd (7), @flaxz (8), @cezary-io (9), @mariya36 (10), @venan (11), @practicaleric (12), @pagane (14) and @cryptospa (15).
Seeding in Round 1 of Champions League Eliminations
Next top 8 players, ranked after those with free admission and seeded in Round 2. They start eliminations from Round 1 and are seeded there.
This rule still holds true - if players who won a competition in previous season are among them, the positions are shifted.
Positions 16 thru 23 assure seeding in Round 1 of eliminations. All players below need to start in pre-qualifiers. In Season 6, the following players were seeded in Round 1: @sk1920 (rank 16), @pjansen (17), @davidesimoncini (18), @asia-pl (19), @davidthompson57 (20), @homesteadlt (21), @zimnaherbata (22) and @milabogomila (23).
I will publish updated Ranking table after completion of qualifiers for Season 6.
