The SGS Community owns a stash of Splinterlands cards, many of which were acquired several years ago. Back in January 2021 we had refined the cards into a playable deck that was customised to target Silver League and then set up an account called @monsterpit where the cards were Delegated. We then raffled off access to this @monsterpit account for a couple of seasons at a time to give members a chance to play and learn the game as well as raise funds for the Community Curation Project @ssg-community. Later, when the Rental Market for Splinterlands cards came online and matured in early 2022 we shifted the community owned cards over to be rented out and we have been earning a steady stream of income ever since. Occasionally a card or two is sold to make up for any shortfall in project expenses but the overall card collection for SGS remains very playable at the Silver League level.

In recent times the rental market has dried up a little bit and the cards themselves have also dropped in value after the recent Bear Market. According to Peak Monsters the SGS card collection is currently valued around $1,300 USD and is earning about 7-8% APR which amounts to an additional income of maybe 24-26 HIVE per month. It’s a small but not insignificant sum and it’s been a couple of years since these assets have really been reviewed. So if there is a better option out there for earning income off these SGS owned Splinterlands cards then it should be considered. It turns out there may be a better alternative….
Recently I’ve been reviewing my own Splinterlands holdings and getting up to date with where the game is at. There are now a couple of interesting Hosted BOT products out there that can battle the cards for you to earn potentially comparable rewards to what we’ve been getting on the Rental Market. Since the SGS Splinterlands Deck remains in a playable state I am looking at whether it’s worth trying one of these bots out to see if they can perhaps outperform the rental market that has been providing steady income these last couple of years. For a benchmark I’ll use the last season Report Card from Splinter Stats shown below.

Last Season (Approx 15 Days) the rentals earned 5245 DEC after fees, which puts it at about $4.15 USD or 12 HIVE for the season. One of the bots leading the race in this space at the moment is Xbot.App and they offer a Free Trial of 7 days (half a season) so I thought I might give it a try and see if it compares for earnings. If anyone else out there in SGS has recent experience with botting Splinterlands Cards then I’d love to hear from you so please share your experience in the comments below. Thanks!
