The other day I had been Boosting Precious Vote Weights Again and I was talking to Old Mate @welshstacker about how we were travelling as a community. I realized it's been a very long while since I queried Hive SQL to check our long term post trends. So today I went back to the start of 2022 and pulled out the post count data for all posts that have been using the #SilverGoldStackers tag since the start of that year.

The chart was initially very "noisy" and so I smoothed it over a little bit by using a 7-day Moving Average. Still that is almost 3 and a half years worth of data so you can see a few trends. I could have gone back even further to capture the 2021 Bull Market and I could have even gone back to the old STEEM days to see when our community was super active at its peak (averaging over 60 posts a day in early 2018) but a lot of that is ancient history and going over all that is nostaglic at best...
What I see from the above chart is that our Post Rate and along with it our community health on Hive has been relatively consistent over recent times. Even when Hive itself has been depressed and we have been in a broader Crypto Winter our community activity on the Hive platform has been steady. You can see that we bounced back to some degree in late 2022 and plateaued for a couple of years before then starting to decline a little since mid-2024.
Of course there is a spike around November 2024 which is where the Hive Price started pumping and that suggests to me that motivations for posting are linked at least a little bit to the overall health and value of the Hive ecosystem. However, it's not that dramatic and I still think we're in reasonably good shape. A nice bump in the Hive price might certainly help us, but we've been through tougher times before.
