Today with this awesome new piece is a return to my Gothic bent to fill in some background story of my alter ego, The Bloody Raven.
The Crown of Ambrogio
Fall 1340 AD Italy
In the day he had entertained his Habsburg guests with the usual pleasantries of etiquette and high society that eventually gave way to the sordid business of political bargaining and favour. With the deal made and contract signed his guests were appropriately welcomed before departing the following morning.
A small grin came to his lips as he watched them leave with their entourage towards the main gate of his expansive estate. Not without a tryst with the lovely Lady Amelia Habsburg as her face made one longing peer back to his piercing eyes. "Her soul now belongs to me and her Duke husband shant even know until it can be too late."
Thus the future seeds of discord are planted in this Prince's house.
None of his guests ever realize that the various portraits of the main hallway were of the same man young, old, sometimes in between for many generations and eras of fashionable dress.
Lord Amerus Brogino IV long understood how to play both and all sides in the game of political power so well that even the Pope feared his reach and many royal houses are in various ways were indebted to him. Perhaps envy or even hating him and proved by various failed assassinations only to meet with a swift and terrible retribution.
These helpless mortals cannot possibly comprehend what he can do. People of power are simply human too, they can go mad, sick, have accidents and of course die at a most miss-opportune time or not. He can arrange that too for a price or upon his own fleeting fancy. It's been so long and he needed to be reminded how fragile a human kine compared to any of his kindred. He was once a mere human kine long ago.
His seat itself was of carved oak and elevated a few steps high on a polished white marble platform. An ornate crimson cushion rested on the seat, armrests decorated each with a large silver skull. Before this throne laid a large hide of fur from an unknown great beast and a footstool that matched the seat. To the left perched a hunting falcon, the right a large raven.
Behind the throne awaited several servants bearing objects required for the upcoming ceremony
He deliberately fashioned his throne room to mirror that of the Temple of Delphi where, the god Apollo himself modeled it from Olympus. But to the dark Lord Amerus' it was meant to openly mock the Olympic gods that burdened him of this existence.
And overhead was the same Coat of arms but somewhat different in the dim lighting.
Ambrogio stepped up upon his golden throne, turned, set aside his resplendent cape and peered into the eyes of each of the Clan Patriarchs and Matriarchs. All all familiar to him, his Kindred; The Camarilla of Western Europe, The Tremere of the South, Ravnos of the North, Malkavians of Eastern Europe The Gangrel of Russia , The Assemites of the Middle east and other clans with their own politics
For centuries he had given witness to the predilections of mankind and the Night Walkers were no stranger to the lure of power.
His power.
A blood red moon appeared in the night sky as the spired dome stained glass shutters were swung opened up on his cue.
He stared for a moment at the moon as if the moonlight lovingly caressed the pale skin of his scarred face, and whispered in his most affectionate voice, “Selenne my love, I wish only you would be here by my side and be proud of our progeny, our kingdom of darkness!"
His demeanor changes back as he glanced over to his aide, "Proceed."
Machel solemn in his role stepped forward, "I Machel the Orator hereby call our King's counsel to order!"
Machel stood before his Lord and bowed.
One servant hands Machel a silver Goblet, another fills it with of red wine of which he himself tasted before offering it to his lord.
Amerus stands and holds up the goblet and proclaim, "Let our efforts bring peace and cooperation between my children of the Kindred and the same time deliver suffering and death to our enemies!"
He takes a satisfying drink as the servants place a table and setting before the throne. "And by our tradition we shall indulge in the fresh blood of kine in the close our ceremony but first..."He produces a large coin from his coat pocket. A servant conveys the coin to Machel to inspect it.
The silver coin bore the symbol of the floral nested Crowned Skull, this time the skull's jaw now bare the fangs of the Night Walkers. Not only that, but Machel could also sense the powerful cursed soul trapped within the coin.
Machel thrusts it up in the air, "Tis the true coin of the Kindred! Long live King Ambrogio!"
The gathering echoed that proclamation, "Long live King Ambrogio!"
"Patriarchs, Matriarchs, and non-aligned Leaders, bring forth your coin!"
