From Australia's Perth Mint, the Kangaroo 1oz silver coin has been around for 31 years - each year with a new design.
Perth Mint
The Perth Mint started in 1899, in Australia, as the 3rd branch of the British Royal Mint. In 1970 the ownership was transfered to Western Australia under an agreement with the Commonwealth Treasury, with rights to continue minting silver, gold, and platinum coins as Australian legal tender. A well respected mint, their gold and silver coins are sought after by precious metal investors (Source).
1oz Silver Kangaroo Coin
The Kangaroo 1oz pure silver coin is a popular striking that changes it's front side each year - for 31 years and running. The gold one is called the Kangaroo Nugget.
The front of the coin features a Kangaroo in mid hop to the left. The background has intricate radial lines like the sun, and intricate wave lines border around the outside of the . Along the top curve of the front of the coin is the text "AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO", along the bottom curve is the text "2023 1oz .9999 SILVER".
The backside of this coin features the Queen, facing to the right. There is a thick intricate wavy line border around the coin backside.
Along the top curve of the backside is the text "ELIZABETH II 1952-2022 AUSTRALIA", along the bottom curve is the text "1 DOLLAR".
Well known and widely circulated, the Australian Kangaroo coin is a fine addition the stack - my only coin from Perth Mint. Going to the bullion shop this weekend, looking forward to checking out the variety.
