I began posting on this lovely community because of @silverd510's silver wishlist contest and from there I began growing a love for coins.
I want to continue posting on here but due to lack of funds to start my own silver stacking journey (brokeness is a bitchπ’) I really don't have much material to post on hereπ.
On that note I've decided to begin my own personal posting stream on here.
I'll be posting different collectible gold and silver coins from the one continent that I've noticed isn't really known for coins.
Everyone knows of the silver from Britain, America and Australia but has anyone really looked at Africa?
In my Silver Wishlist post's, I decided to check and saw that Africa is a legit treasure trove of unique silver and gold coins πβ¨
@trumpman's pirate's stick prolly tweaking nowπ
I'll make it into a collection too, so I won't lose track of the coins I've posted and it'll be easier for collectors to come and check for whatever they may be interested in πβ¨
The African Coins Collection sounds right enough.
The South African Bullion Krugerrand πΏπ¦
This the coin that caught my eye at first glance when I was making the list of coins to post.
It's a coin that reminded me of the gold doubloon of the old iconic pirate films.
This is a coin that has to be one of the richest in history and reputation.
Friends you're looking at the first ever gold bullion coin ever minted.
History π¨βπ«
First minted in 1967 by the South African mint. This coin was introduced as a way to help promote the South African gold mining industry, also to help encourage people to invest in gold.
The coin quickly gained popularity and was recognized as one of the most widely recognized gold coins in the world.
By 1980, Krugerrand's accounted for more than 90% of the world's global gold coin market and was investor's number one choice when buying gold.
It later fell out of favor as some Western countries forbade and sanctioned import of Krugerrand's due to it's association with the apartheid government of South Africa.
After these sanctions were released, the coins came back in full force and then other countries took the cue to begin producing their own bullion coins. π
