Heading out with my tried and trusted Garrett metal detector and fueled by a passion for history, I set out on a quest to unearth the past and bring its secrets to light, plus hoping to find something to make me rich..... Recently, while attending a metal detecting event in Gloucestershire, I had the pleasure of witnessing a remarkable discovery firsthand. A 10-year-old metal detectorist attending his first event with the Gloucestershire Metal Detecting Club, stumbled upon a rare piece of history just meters from his family's car, buried a mere inch underground. The excitement in his eyes was palpable, and reminded me of howni once was, as he held aloft a 14th-century seal, its significance echoing through the centuries. Intrigued by this remarkable find, I then spoke with Kurt Adams, the Gloucestershire and Avon Finds Liaison Officer, who shed light on the seal's origins. A fascinating piece covered with the image of the lamb of God and bearing the inscription "Roger of Tetbury," this ecclesiastical seal offers a tantalising glimpse into the past, its purpose and significance shrouded and lost to the mists of time. Kurt Adams remarked on the rarity and quality of the find, affirming its importance in the annals of history.
