Yesterday, I got to print out cards with our brand new laser jet printer. So, they look semi-professional now - except they aren't lined up 100% perfectly with their backgrounds - for a future print, I guess.
Today's Reading
Question: Tell me what I need to share about the coming week.
(When in doubt, this is a good question: Tell me what I need to know about...)
I'm using my (personal) standard 11-card spread (the final couplet being obtained through adding the numbers across the center to find the outcome.)
First step is to read across the middle using the card key words.
flute burial cedar moon unity
temporary loss of stability leads to peace and harmony
The center card is the main issue in the reading.
The cedar is about stability and roots. It's a tall, sturdy tree that provided many important things to the Chinook and Salish tribes in the Pacific Northwest.
surrounding Feathers + Elder
This seems personally appropriate as we have been talking about our housing/property situation. One possible idea is to move the grandparents into town where they wouldn't have as much work to maintain the house - and we'd move into their house and have a good place to raise the girls.
While the Elder can mean teachers or books, it may be literally true in this reading. (I've had that happen before in Lenormand readings.)
Feathers are the "key" to success in this deck - or maybe they are literal keys.
Leading up to the current situation, we look at the first two cards (plus the ones above/below.)
Flute + Burial
I started off with the idea of "temporary loss." The flute gives us an idea of peace and tranquility, but it also represents the older generation and the idea that life is fleeting. Combine this with the burial and it really does give the sense of loss. My girls and I have been somewhat transient since we left the UK. While six and a half years doesn't feel very temporary to me, it is in the grand scheme of things.
But what do the surrounding cards lend?
Hummingbird + Clouds
With the birds also fleeting and flitting and the confusion of the clouds, it adds more transience to the past situation. Making me think that yes, this reading is about our physical location/situation.
We also pair the "mirror" cards...
Flute + Unity
We have a man making an agreement... or peaceful commitments... commitments later in life... Again, seems to add to the whole situation.
Burial + Moon
This pair is a little less attractive, warning of emotional turmoil and even grief. So, let's look to the future and see if we can figure out what's going wrong...
(Burial can simply mean a huge change i.e. death to the old ways - so I have to be careful not to read too much negativity into this card.)
Also note: Lenormand Moon is significantly different than a Tarot Moon - check out the links below for more info.
Following the current situation, we look at the final two cards (plus the ones above/below.)
Moon + Unity
This is an engagement or creative contract, so very positive in general. So, maybe there's a way to do what we were talking about...
But...
Bear + Poison Ivy
This appears to be the other half of the warning. The bear is often an authority figure (specifically mother) and of course no one wants to get caught in the poison ivy...
I think mother-in-law isn't going to be too thrilled with the idea - at first. Yet, everything rides on her being happy!
So, let's look at the outcome.
Outcome Pair of Cards
Add the digits of the cards across the middle. (130)
Add those digits together until the answer equals a card number. (4)
Subtract 36 from the number until the answer equals a card number. (22)
I then use those two numbers as a card or card pair to describe the outcome of the current situation.
Tipi (4) + Crow (22)
This is confirmation that we are talking about housing this week. We have a decision to make (22) about housing (4). I wasn't expecting this to come about so quickly - or maybe the outcome is further into the future still... (more likely).
It will be interesting to see what happens next!
One of the things I love about Lenormand is simply seeing that there is a plan and a future... that things are going the way they are meant to. It helps me to be more relaxed about things that don't seem to be panning out the way I had intended. Indeed, it gives me patience where I might not have had any.

May I read for you?
If you would like a reading, please comment with a question (not yes/no, please). A good question would be: "Tell me about the future of Hive." (Rather than: "Will Hive succeed?")
Each post (hopefully weekly on Tuesdays), I will feature one question that was posed to me on the previous post - or privately via Discord. (viking-ventures #2883.)
Note: Readings are entertainment only (legally). You are in charge of your own destiny.

Feb 2019, I began designing a new Lenormand deck so that I can give you readings for Tarot Tuesday. I finally completed my deck in Mar 2020 just before the Hive Fork.
