Hi Friends
I did my last weekend activity in the first week of November in 2023. I can say that every weekend in Istanbul had been rainy and windy since mid-November. From the last week of December to the second week of January, the weather in Istanbul was warm and occasionally sunny. Taking advantage of the sunny and warm weather over the weekend, I and my friend decided to go to Esenceli Village in the Şile district of Istanbul. Esenceli Village is an indispensable place for nature activities as it is intertwine with the forest and dam lake.

En son hafta sonu aktivitemi 2023 yılında, Kasım ayının ilk haftası yapmıştım. Kasım ayının ortasından itibaren İstanbul’da her haftasonu, yağmurlu ve rüzgarlı bir hava oldu diyebilirim. Aralık ayının son haftasından Ocak ayının ikinci haftasına kadar İstanbul’da hava ılık ve zaman zaman güneşli oldu. Haftasonu güneşli ve ılık olan havayı fırsat bilip ben ve arkadaşım İstanbul’un Şile ilçesinde bulunan Esenceli Köyü’ne gitmeye karar verdik. Esenceli Köyü hem yakın hem de orman ve baraj gölü ile iç içe olması nedeniyle doğa aktiviteleri için vazgeçilmez bir yer.
Due to the bad weather conditions, I hadn't done a proper weekend activity with my friend for about two months. We were both very bored. During the week, I and my friend talked about going somewhere as the weather would be fine in the weekend. We thought that we could both relax and be in touch with nature. We met around noon on Saturday. We took the table, chair and samovar and set off. Since it was getting dark early in winter, we did not want to have a barbecue in order not to waste time. Instead, we had meatballs sandwich somewhere on the way and bought something to drink.
Kötü havalar nedeniyle yaklaşık iki aylık süre boyunca arkadaşımla doğru düzgün bir haftasonu aktivitesi yapmamıştım. İkimiz de çok sıkılmıştık. Hafta içinde arkadaşımla, hafta sonu havanın güzel olacağından bir yerlere gitmeyi konuştuk. Hem kafa dağıtmış olur hem de doğayla iç içe oluruz diye düşündük. Cumartesi öğlen gibi buluştuk. Masa, sandalye ve semaveri alıp yola çıktık. Kışın hava erken karardığı için zaman kaybetmemek adına mangal yapmak istemedik. Bunun yerine, yol üstünde bir yerde ekmek arası köfte yaptırdık, içecek birşeyler aldık.
We arrived at Esenceli Village about an hour later. The first thing that caught our attention when we arrived at the village was that the soil in the treeless areas had been trenched. After parking the car, we noticed that these were small pine trees. The treeless grassy areas around the dam have been forested. The last time we came here was two months ago. It was pleasing to see such a change in two months. On my behalf, I would like to thank whoever took the initiative and supported this. This place will be more beautiful in 10-20 years. I hope we will see those days.
Yaklaşık bir saat sonra Esenceli Köyü’ne varmıştık. Köye vardığımızda dikkatimizi ilk çeken şey, ağaçsız alanlardaki toprağın eşelenmiş olduğuydu. Arabayı park ettikten sonra bunların küçük çam ağaçları olduğunu farkettik. Barajın çevresinde kalan ağaçsız çimenlik alanlar ağaçlandırılmıştı. Buraya en son iki ay önce gelmiştik. İki ay içinde böyle bir değişimi görmek sevindiriciydi. Kim ön ayak olup bunu desteklediyse kendi adıma teşekkür ederim. 10-20 yıl içinde burası daha güzel olacak. Umarım o günleri görürüz.
We set up our chairs and the table against such a sightseeing. The sun was warming, but it was obvious that it would be cold when the sun went down. As usual, my friend started lighting the samovar at first. I went to the edge of the dam and took a few photos. Then, I came back and prepared the food and drinks. After eating, we warmed up by drinking hot samovar tea. Thanks to the rains in November and December, the water level of the dam has risen significantly. When we last came here, the total water level of the dams in Istanbul was approximately 17%. As of the date of the post, the total water level of dams in Istanbul is 60%.
Böyle bir manzaraya karşı sandalyelerimizi ve masayı kurduk. Güneş ısıtıyordu ama güneş batınca havanın soğuk olacağı barizdi. Arkadaşım her zamanki gibi ilk önce semaveri yakmaya başladı. Ben barajın kenarına gidip birkaç fotoğraf çektim. Sonra geri dönüp yiyecek ve içecekleri hazırladım. Karnımızı doyurduktan sonra sıcak semaver çayını içip iyice ısındık. Kasım ve Aralık aylarında yağan yağmurlar sayesinde barajın su seviyesi iyice yükselmişti. Buraya en son geldiğimizde İstanbul’daki barajların toplam doluluk oranı ortama %17 idi. Yazı tarihi itibariyle İstanbul’daki barajların toplam doluluk oranı ise %60.
November 2023 (Kasım 2023)
Just as the sun was going to to set and the weather was going to get cold. We changed our location and settled somewhere a little higher. There were pieces of wood here, left over from other people and fallen from trees. We lit a fire to stay warm. My friend started brewing another tea in the samovar. Thus, I started walking towards the other side of the dam to both walk around the dam and collect some wood. While walking around, I took a few photos towards sunset.
Güneş batmaya, hava da soğumaya başlamıştı. Yerimizi değiştirip biraz daha yukarıda bir yere konuşlandık. Burda başka insanlardan kalan ve ağaçlardan düşen odun parçaları vardı. Isınmak için ateş yaktık. Arkadaşım semaverde bir çay daha demlemeye başladı. Ben de hem barajın etrafını gezmek hem de odun toplamak için yürümeye barajın diğer tarafına doğru yürümeye başladım. Gezerken gün batımına doğru birkaç fotoğraf çektim.
The campers had taken their places as usual.

I found a large branch broken off from a pine tree in the forest. I took this and returned to my friend before it got dark. The weather became cold, but the fire was keeping us warm. This was the first time we stayed in Esenceli Village for such a long time in winter. We stayed here until the big piece of wood, I brought, burned. After that day, the weather in Istanbul have become very cold. I hope I can do another weekend activity on these boring winter days as soon as possible. All photos in this post belong to me. Ormanın içinde bir çam ağacından kopmuş büyük bir dal buldum. Bunu alıp hava kararmadan arkadaşımın yanına geri döndüm. Hava iyice soğumuştu ama ateşimiz de gayet bizi ısıtıryordu. İlk defa kış mevsiminde Esenceli Köyü’nde bu kadar uzun süre durmuştuk. Getirdiim büyük odun parçasına yanana kadar oturduk. O günden sonra İstanbul’da hava çok soğudu. Umarım en kısa zamanda bu sıkıcı kış günlerinde bir hafta sonu aktivitesi daha yaparım. Bu yazıdaki tüm fotoğraflar bana aittir. Okuduğunuz için teşekkür ederim.
