In 1994 Quentin Tarantino released one of his finest films, and in my eyes the best of them all. It intertwines four very different story lines that intersect one another and weave an amazing film. It was also the film that resurrected John Travolta's career and made two unknown actors into superstars. Those being Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson. It is the best movie of the decade in my opinion and I have shared in once before on Nineties Friday, but it's so good I have to do it again!
#ninetiesfriday is a weekly event where you can share anything from the decade of the 1990's. You can publish it under the Nineties Friday community or just use the tag #ninetiesfriday and not a bad idea to do a shoutout to @geneeverett .
So Let's hop into a clip from the movie, this one is very, very bloody and filled with vulgar language. If you don't like either you may not want to watch. But it was a very funny scene from the movie.
Futurama
This show came from the producers of The Simpsons, and is about Fry who was frozen in 1999 and unfrozen one thousand years later. It's a funny show that has been cancelled and renewed more times than I can recall now. They are still producing episodes for Hulu currently. Here are some of the fun scenes from the show.
The first has a lesson to it about compound interest. Fry tries to with draw some money form his bank account after one thousand years:
And this is a medley of funny scenes, good for some laughs!
And now some music from the decade!
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Formed in 1982 in Los Angeles, California this band slowly built a following throughout the 1980's but also suffered heavily from drug problems. After the death of a band member from a drug overdose they cleaned up. In 1991 they released the album Blood Sugar Sex Magik with an introspective hit about the loneliness the lead singer suffered after going sober. This is "Under The Bridge":
The Cult
This is one of my favorite bands and thanks to @bozz sharing the song "Nirvana" by the band on TTT. It made me think of some other songs that were underappreciated. The band formed in 1983 in Bradford, England under the name Death Cult which shortly after was changed to just The Cult. They had a string of hits in the 80's and early 90's. This was from 2001 (close to the 90's!)but has the original hard rock band sound and style, and is a really good song. "Rise":
Weezer
Formed in 1992 in Los Angeles, California this band went on to create some of the biggest hits of the 1990's. In 1994 they released this really catchy tune that was most anyone alive in the 1990's will recognize, this is "Say It Ain't So":
Foo Fighters
I've shared this band several times, formed in Seattle, Washington in 1994 they've gone on to become rock legends. This song was a huge hit off their third album released in 1999, this one is "Learn To Fly":
I spent most of the 1990's living in South America and the Caribbean in Spanish speaking nations, I always like to share something from the era in Spanish
Thalía
Thalía has been one of the biggest names in Latin American entertainment for over 30 years. She really became a super star in the late 1990's with a string of hits. This is a fun one where she pays homage to Mexican culture, "Amor A La Mexicana" (Mexican style love):
That will wrap up the fun for this Nineties Friday. I hope you enjoyed! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you for all of your support. It really does mean a lot to me! Have a great weekend everyone!
