Hi, Outdoors and more community! It's been a while since I haven't posted here so it feels like the first time. For today's blog, let me share with you some of the outdoor adventures I did back in the Philippines.
Oh, wow! I just found my old photos using an old phone. It feels so nostalgic looking at these photos thinking how I was physically fit back then. It was in 2017 that I went to Siargao for the first time with a friend. Instead of staying for only two days, I extended my stay.
Of course, what to do in Siargao?
It's time to go surfing. I was searching for my inner potential to be a surfer back then. Hahaha!
I never had an underwater camera then, but I had a waterproof casing for my phone that I bought for PHP 350. Somehow, we were able to take videos while surfing.
Looking at the photos or videos made me feel nostalgic. Oh my gosh, I was such an adventurous lass. I apologize for not having high-quality photos for this blog but I am happy to see that I was able to document this moment.
We have a surfer friend who is now based in Siargao. At first, he was based in Cebu as a surfboard shaper. We were searching for him so that he could train us for surfing especially for me, as a beginner. I rented the surfboard in my hostel. Since my surfing coach knows everything about surfboards, whatever happens to the surfboard, he could easily fix it.
There are many surfing spots in Siargao. Since my hostel is near Cloud 9, we chose to surf here.
How was the experience?
The surfing session was made in one hour. To be honest, my energy got exhausted in just 30 minutes. But it was all fun until I made it to one hour.
My balance in the surfboard was good so my coach was impressed. I was surprised as well. They say that for beginners, you usually fall a lot. If only I could live one month or two, and just surf every day, I could have been a pro. Haha, just kidding.
When I did my first long sure going to the shore, oh wow, that was awesome. I managed my balance and I never fell. I should learn more techniques on how to turn left or right.
They have this expression and you say, "I am SUPERSTOKED!"
If you can just imagine my smile from ear to ear. For those days I stayed in Siargao, I was just surfing every day. And after surfing, we had to eat a good meal to recharge all those burned calories from surfing.
During this photo session, this happened in the morning. We even did another session during sunset time.
So many foreigners living the off-grid life in Siargao, just surfing every day. I felt so lucky to have this kind of experience when I was young and childless. At that time, it was just ME TIME, all the time.
Here are some Instagram videos I posted in 2017. I hope this is allowed. If not, I can delete it.
Thanks for reading. :D
