Water in movement has always fascinated me. Whenever I come across flowing water, I tend to just squat or sit down and observe. Be there with it. When I do this, however, I usually also get a strong urge to attempt to capture the feeling of being there. The essence of what I'm experiencing or whatever. And pictures just don't cut it when it comes to the look and sound of moving water.
So I do video recordings of the scene I'm in, using my phone. I try to be as still as possible during the recordings, and avoid making sounds. I also try to avoid looking at the recording screen as much as possible, so I can focus on just being there (even if I'm simultaneously doing a video recording).
WARNING! The audio in the video clips contained in this post are unprocessed and may vary in volume. Be especially careful if playing them using headphones or earplugs.
This dog arrived at this river the same time as me. We do not know each other, but we were still able to silently enjoy each other's brief company. Gotta be an awesome place to be a dog indeed.. A human too for that matter.
I've been doing recordings like these for years, for no particular purpose. I've several times considered posting them to Hive, but spamming my blog with 10-30 sec videos always just felt completely out of the question. Until today when I came to the most obvious realization I could just create a new separate account for my short video clips and decline payout on them, and put several clips in a single post on my main account. Some brains move slower than others lol.
Anyways. It is my hope that you'll get some inspiration, calmness or any other form of enjoyment out of these clips. And if you do enjoy this post, feel free to give an upvote or even a follow. There will most likely be more of this to come.
Location: Mjølfjell Mountain, Norway
The location of this river is at Mjølfjell Mountain, close to The Mjølfjell Mountain Lodge, where I spent a week in July a couple of years ago. During that week I spent quite a bit of time down by the river.
Did I go for a swim? For sure. Was it cold? Certainly.
Why in the world didn't I make this recording 10x longer..
Or this one..
I think this one's my favorite. I love how the azure blue water constantly lick the smooth rock.
A bit deeper here.
This one's also pretty darn satisfying.
Not water related, but about 50 meters from the river (you can faintly hear it in the background) I suddenly saw this scene playing out; Two ants collaborating to carry a giant larva to their queen. I was very happy with the level of detail I was able to capture using only my phone.
