There is a lot of posting on bug out bags, and bugging out for greener pastures; but they miss one of the most important items!
Unlimited planning will do you little good, if you can't actually reach your 'greener pastures'. The most important thing (after water of course), is your FEET! Take care of them, because it is hard to crawl to your greener pastures.
You will be carrying more than normal, for significant distances. The best protection for your feet is a good pair of shoes with ankle support, that are well broken in. The second best add is proper Socks...TWO pairs.
The first pair should be as thin as possible, to allow movement between ths socks. This movement, in a proper shoe; will be minimal, and will avoid blister formation. Thin and slick socks are the most important sock, and the most often overlooked!
If you can't find these thin socks, knee length panty hose will work too.
The second pair should be as thick as possible:
This pair is the padding that fills the shoe, and absorbs the impact while walking. With the different socks, working together; your feet are very well protected!
Keep several sets of these socks in your bug out bag in case your feet get wet. Keeping them dry is also very important, so keep your bug out footware well oiled, and dry!
Treat your feet right, and they will take you to those greener pastures; if not, all the planning in the World won't help you get there....
