¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, hace un montón de tiempo que no pasaba por aquí, tanto así que mi amiga @eldiariodelys lleva meses publicando su columna Conéctate Contigo, y no es hasta hoy que estoy participando en ella 🤣. Para ésta ocasión se nos invita a hablar de un tema en el cual creo que todas podemos tener algo de experiencia, y es el Sobrepensamiento, ese justamente que a veces no nos deja dormir, que no nos deja prestar atención en una conversación, que incluso puede quitarnos el hambre, y el cual, si no se gestiona, puede llegar a perjudicarnos emocionalmente, aún así, es ese que también nos mantiene alerta, que nos permite organizar, y el cual puede ayudarnos de muchas formas ✨.
Hello Hello Community! ✨, It's been a long time since I've been here, so much so that my friend @eldiariodelys has been publishing her column Connect with Yourself for months, and it's not until today that I'm participating in it 🤣. For this occasion we are invited to talk about a topic in which I think we can all have some experience, and it is the Overthinking, which sometimes does not let us sleep, which does not let us pay attention in a conversation, which can even take away our hunger, and which, if not managed, can harm us emotionally, even so, it is also the one that keeps us alert, which allows us to organize, and which can help us in many ways ✨.
El sobrepensamiento es la extensión de la ansiedad, su punto de origen o su mejor amigo, cuando a nuestra mente llega esa avalancha de pensamientos repetitivos, que pueden perseguirnos o atormentarnos por un tiempo prolongado, es cuando se genera la ansiedad, su manifestación puede verse de diversas formas, a través de la preocupación excesiva, de actos compulsivos, del encierro, e incluso de sobre exposición a información que confirma nuestro pensamiento. Para algunos, esto ha sido algo que nos ha acompañado toda la vida, para otros es algo que aparece y desaparece a lo largo de los años, y para muchos es un elemento que los descontrola. Cuando se entiende que el sobrepensamiento es solo un aspecto de todo tu ser con el que puedes convivir, es cuando comienzas a lograr los pequeños cambios que te permitan, no controlarlo, sino gestionarlo ✨.
Overthinking is the extension of anxiety, its point of origin or its best friend, when that avalanche of repetitive thoughts reaches our mind, which can haunt us or torment us for a long time, is when anxiety is generated, its manifestation can be seen in various forms, through excessive worry, compulsive acts, confinement, and even overexposure to information that confirms our thinking. For some, this is something that has been with us all our lives, for others it is something that comes and goes over the years, and for many it is an element that drives them out of control. It is when you understand that overthinking is just one aspect of your whole being that you can live with that you begin to make the small changes that allow you not to control it, but to manage it ✨.
Toda mi vida he sido una persona obsesiva, que busca la perfección de muchas maneras, y aunque con los años he ido entendiendo de dónde surge esto y he cambiado algunos aspectos de mi forma de ser, eso no ha eliminado en mí los pensamientos repetivos. Y es que, acciones tan “pequeñas” como pedir la parada en un transporte público, pueden desatar en mí el sobrepensamiento, puedo llegar a planificar en un espacio de 5 minutos cómo pediré la parada, de qué momento me levantaré (si es que voy sentada), qué tan alto tengo que hablar, si al bajar tendré dificultad con los escalones, que no olvide decir gracias, que no me olvide de pagar; y todo ésto en ese corto tiempo para llevar a cabo algo que de hecho hago todos los días. Ejemplos como éste tengo un montón, algunos de menor impacto y otros de mayor gravedad, porque si hay algo que tiene el sobrepensamiento, es que puede ser tanto adaptativo como destructivo.
All my life I have been an obsessive person, who seeks perfection in many ways, and although over the years I have come to understand where this comes from and I have changed some aspects of my way of being, this has not eliminated repetitive thoughts in me. And it is that, actions as "small" as asking for a stop on public transport, can unleash overthinking in me, I can plan in a space of 5 minutes how I will ask for the stop, from what moment I will get up (if I am sitting down), how loud I have to speak, if I will have difficulty with the steps, that I do not forget to say thank you, that I do not forget to pay; and all this in that short time to carry out something that in fact I do every day. I have plenty of examples like this, some of lesser impact and some of greater severity, because if there is one thing about overthinking, it is that it can be both adaptive and destructive.
Aunque el sobrepensamiento es algo que como bien dije, me ha acompañado toda la vida, también ha sido algo que con el tiempo he logrado “callar” por momentos, sin embargo hay situaciones en mi vida que han sido detonantes para que este aparezca con fuerza, no hace mucho viví dos eventos que me afectaron muchísimo emocionalmente y que llenaron mi cabeza de pensamientos intrusivos al punto de generar malestar emocional, en esos momentos he encontrado que hay algunas cosas que me permiten regularme, y por ende gestionar mis pensamientos. La música y la lectura siempre han sido mi forma de encontrar paz, es por eso que la mayor parte del tiempo tengo mis audífonos cerca de mí, porque cuando siento que estoy abrumada mentalmente, tomo mis audífonos y reproduzco la música al volúmen más alto 🔊.
Although overthinking is something that as I said, has accompanied me all my life, it has also been something that over time I have managed to "shut up" at times, however there are situations in my life that have been triggers for this to appear with force, not long ago I lived two events that affected me very much emotionally and filled my head with intrusive thoughts to the point of generating emotional discomfort, in those moments I have found that there are some things that allow me to regulate myself, and therefore manage my thoughts. Music and reading have always been my way of finding peace, that's why most of the time I keep my headphones close to me, because when I feel that I'm mentally overwhelmed, I take my headphones and play the music at the highest volume 🔊.
La lectura fue algo que por muchos años dejé y hasta ahora que la volví a retomar en forma, me he dado cuenta de lo bien que me hace, cuando estoy inmersa en una historia mi cabeza está completamente en silencio, es como si bajaran el interruptor y todo quedara oscuro y callado. Hay momentos en los que estoy tan abrumada que me siento en el fondo de un pozo, ahí me gusta implementar caminatas matutinas con mi perro, el aire fresco de la mañana me relaja y las locuras de Apolo en la calle me hacen reir 🤣. Maquillarme es para mí el equivalente a pintar o dibujar, cada trazo, cada color, cada textura y en ocasiones cada reto, despejan mi mente de una forma maravillosa, y si algo he aprendido es que, al menos en mí, cuando los pensamientos se apagan, después regresan pero con menos fuerza, y es allí donde logro ver las soluciones o las distorciones.
Reading was something that for many years I gave up and until now I've taken it up again, I've realised how good it does me, when I'm immersed in a story my head is completely silent, it's as if the switch is turned down and everything is dark and quiet. There are times when I'm so overwhelmed that I feel at the bottom of a well, there I like to implement morning walks with my dog, the fresh morning air relaxes me and Apollo's madness in the street makes me laugh 🤣. Making up is for me the equivalent of painting or drawing, every stroke, every colour, every texture and sometimes every challenge, clears my mind in a wonderful way, and if I've learned anything it's that, at least in me, when the thoughts go out, then they come back but with less strength, and that's where I can see the solutions or the distortions.
