Es muy cierto que hay gestos como un abrazo, una palabra, una sonrisa pueden cambiar tanto el ánimo de la otra persona como hasta sentir que le ha salvado el día, claro puede ocurrir que hay personas que no les gusten que le digan nada o que no son de recibir algún contacto físico, pero en situaciones que lo ameritan, nunca esta demás ver cuál de las opciones puede ser la mejor o al menos aliviar lo que esté ocurriendo en el momento.
Recuerdo que cuando estaba en la universidad, ya era un viernes y estábamos terminando los exámenes finales, había sido una semana de mucho estrés y tensión, gracias a Dios estábamos presentando el último, ya de ahí tendríamos algunas semanas de descanso hasta el siguiente, lo cual resultaba bueno, pero ese día algunos empezaron a botar todo el estrés que tenían, ciertamente era inevitable por todo el estudio, poco dormir y que pese a todo que aún no se tenía los resultados uno sabe si salió bien o no.
Esa vez una compañera de estudio que tenía poco de a ver dado a luz a su hija, comenzó a llorar, al principio pensé que era el mismo estrés y cansancio que había quedado de los exámenes, o que sentía que había salido mal, pero pese a lo que realmente fuera y que no quería preguntar mucho preferí solo acercarme, le di un abrazo y empecé hablarle de algo diferente para distraerla y por sia también de que pese a lo que estuviera pasando hizo un gran esfuerzo, claro que duele cuando las cosas no salen como uno quiere o simplemente se siente frustrado por lo que uno quería hacer y no se pudo, son cosas que pasan y a que desahogarse para que se pueda continuar.
Recuerdo que ella sonrió y solo me dijo tus palabras me salvaron el día, eso no se me olvida, ya que me alegro mucho haber podido ayudarla, que mis palabras o el simplemente el hecho de acompañarla la hicieran sentir mejor. Siempre he pensado que un momento de empatía nunca esta demás, sobre todo cuando vez que esa persona está deprimida o, aunque no sepas que le pasa y sea que te lo diga o no, el hecho de hacer un gesto amable, que haga sentir mejor a esa persona siempre será un cambio positivo para ambos, yo fácilmente ese día me hubiese podido ir y dejarla ahí porque también estaba cansada de tantos exámenes, pero realmente valió la pena quedarse y tener un tiempo con alguien que lo necesitaba.

I remember when I was in college, it was already a Friday and we were finishing the final exams, it had been a week of much stress and tension, thank God we were presenting the last one, and from there we would have a few weeks of rest until the next one, which was good, but that day some began to throw out all the stress they had, it was certainly inevitable for all the study, little sleep and that despite everything that still did not have the results one knows if it went well or not.
At first I thought it was the same stress and tiredness that had been left from the exams, or that she felt that she had gone wrong, but despite what it really was and that I did not want to ask too much I preferred to just approach her, I gave her a hug and started to talk to her about something different to distract her and also that despite what she was going through she made a great effort, of course it hurts when things do not go as you want or just feel frustrated by what you wanted to do and could not, these are things that happen and you have to unburden yourself so you can continue.
I remember that she smiled and just told me that your words saved the day, I will never forget that, because I am very glad that I could help her, that my words or just the fact of accompanying her made her feel better. I have always thought that a moment of empathy is never too much, especially when you see that person is depressed or, even if you do not know what is wrong and whether she tells you or not, the fact of making a kind gesture that makes that person feel better will always be a positive change for both, I could have easily gone that day and left her there because I was also tired of so many exams, but it was really worth it to stay and have some time with someone who needed it.
