I spent my childhood without playing games at all, and I grew up without the habit of playing games, but I would like to introduce the games that I have enjoyed so far that can be purchased on Apple Arcade, “games that can be played on iPhone and iPad”.
The content will be “puzzle games” and “mystery solving games” that I like.
I will be posting about the games I enjoyed playing at home over the summer and at the end of last year, and again this summer, in a series of articles.

Game #1 Creaks, which even I was able to clear on my iPad/ゲーム #1 iPadで私でもクリアできたCreaks（クリークス）[ENG/JPN]
I never thought I'd be writing about video games.
We will introduce games that people who have grown up without playing games can enjoy.
The game I'm going to introduce this time is called “Machinarium”.
The story begins with the main character being disposed of as scrap at a garbage dump.
If you look for it, you should be able to find the main character's head in the center of the left side of the screen.
This game is a “point-and-click adventure game”, and we, the players, move the character and perform actions to progress through the game by tapping (or clicking with the mouse) on the parts of the tablet screen that interest us.
The “actions” in this game are things like “picking things up”, “pressing buttons and switches”, and “grabbing and releasing levers”, and if you tap (click) on a place where a secret is hidden, the action will happen automatically, so you don't need to worry about detailed controls at all, and you can concentrate on the game world.
This is the scene from the tutorial that appears immediately after the game starts.
At this point, the hero has not yet found the left arm part or the right leg part.
You start by tapping around the screen to find the missing parts for your arms and legs.
Sometimes, instead of searching for parts yourself, you can get the parts you want by bartering with someone else by giving them something else.
This is the kind of thing that makes a game feel like a game.
To do this, it's important to try touching all sorts of places where you think something might be hidden, and it's also important to observe the whole area carefully, without being fixated on one idea.
The great thing about games is that you can repeat this process of trial and error.
There are apparently many “point-and-click” type games, but what exactly makes them so is that “you can take the main character to a certain point, but you can't control them”.
Let's say I tap on a stone in a certain location because I think it might be hiding a secret, and the main character moves to that location.
However, if there is nothing special about the stone, no matter how many times you tap it, the hero will not pick it up.
In other games, you might be able to make the character pick up the stone, but since you can't do that here, you'll be in for a surprise if your prediction is wrong.
In this scene, too, you can only use the three levers and the side push switch.
With just these controls, you have to complete the objective of moving the coal and lifting yourself up with the crane.
As many of the puzzles in this game are quite difficult, there is a “book to open when you get stuck” in the game.
It is a thick book that is locked tightly, and if you clear the mini-game on the book cover, the book will open automatically and show you the corresponding location.

Hint! It's extremely detailed (LOL)
In reality, the left page is written in ancient characters and is completely unreadable, but by carefully looking at the illustrations on the right, you can understand “what items you need”, “what you should do and when”, and “how the current situation will be resolved”.
The hints given by these illustrations are really interesting and full of flavor.
The illustrations are also beautifully drawn by hand.
There are also lots of other combinations of riddles and puzzles.
- First, solve the first riddle, enter the numbers, and open the door to enter the room
- Find the box you need to open and tap it
- The puzzle game will start, so solve the puzzle to open the box
- obtain the item and solve the next puzzle
In many cases, you can't progress just by clearing one puzzle, so the real fun of this game is in the ingenuity and trial and error that you have to go through.
The whole thing is very nostalgic and beautifully drawn, and the hand-drawn piping and machinery have a warm feel to them that is very soothing to look at.
The color scheme is mostly sepia, but there are also characters wearing vivid pink outfits like this.
The background music is also wonderful.
Like the game we introduced last time, there aren't that many hints in the middle of the game.
Players enjoy exploring the game by touching the things that interest them and seeing if there are any hidden mysteries, but there are some fairly high-level puzzles and riddles.
If you get stuck, we recommend that you access the “strategy information” published on the internet and play through to the end without giving up.
If you manage to clear the game to the end, you'll get to see a bright, happy ending.

This company has created many other famous games, and all of them seem to be highly rated by players around the world.
As I mentioned earlier, there are many games with few explanations, and since you solve the puzzles by touching the screen, there are many games where you may find yourself thinking “I don't know what to do first”.
But that's what makes it fun.
I really enjoyed playing and clearing some of Amanita Design's games, so I hope to be able to introduce more of them in future.

ほぼ全くゲームをせずに子ども時代を過ごし、ゲームをする習慣がないまま大人になった私が、Apple Arcadeで購入できるゲームでこれまでとても楽しめた「iPhoneとiPadでできるゲーム」をご紹介しています。
内容は私が好きな「パズルゲーム」「謎解きゲーム」になります。
昨年の夏から年末と、今年の夏に「自宅で楽しめたゲーム」をこれから何回かに分けて投稿していきます。
自分が「ゲームの話題を記事にする」時がくるなんてすごく意外です。
ゲームをせずに育ってきた人が楽しめるゲームで、お薦めのものをご紹介します。
今回ご紹介するのは「Machinarium（マシナリウム）」というゲームです。
一番最初、主人公がスクラップとしてゴミ捨て場に廃棄されるシーンから始まります。
探していただくと、左側の中央あたりに主人公の頭部分が見つかると思います。
このゲームは「ポイント・アンド・クリック型アドベンチャーゲーム」というそうで、我々プレイヤーはタブレット画面の中の気になる部分を指でタップする（またはマウスでクリックする）ことでキャラクターを移動させたりアクションを起こしてゲームを進行させます。
このゲームでの「アクション」は「ものを取る」「ボタンやスイッチを押す」「レバーなどを掴む、離す」というもので、秘密が隠されている場所をタップ（クリック）すれば自動でアクションが発生するので、細かい操作は全く不要で、ゲームの世界に集中できます。
これは本当にゲーム開始直後のチュートリアルの場面です。
現時点で主人公は左腕パーツと右足パーツが見つかっていません。
画面のあちこちをタップして、腕と足を獲得するところからスタートです。
中には自分で直接パーツを探し出すのではなく、別の何かを誰かにあげることで、その人と物々交換として欲しいパーツをもらえることもあります。
こういうのがまさにゲームらしい要素ですね。
そのためには「ここに何か隠されていそうだな」と思うところをとにかくあちこち触ってみるというのが大切で、一つの考えにこだわらず、広く全体をよく観察するのも大事です。
ゲームはそういうトライ＆エラーを繰り返すことができるのが良いですね。
「ポイント・アンド・クリック型」のゲームというのは昔からたくさんあるらしいのですが、具体的にどういう特徴があるかというと「主人公をあるポイントに連れていくことはできるが、操作することはできない」ということです。
私が「この場所にある石に秘密がありそう」と思ってその場所をタップし、主人公が移動したとします。
でも、その石には特に何も仕掛けがない場合、どれだけタップしても主人公が石を手に取るということはありません。
他のゲームだったら「石を拾う」という動作をさせることができるのかもしれませんが、そういうことはできないので、予想が外れると「あれー」という状態になります。
この場面も操作できるのはレバー3つと、横のプッシュスイッチのみ。
それだけで石炭を移動させたり自分をクレーンで吊り上げて移動するという目的を完結させないといけません。
このゲームの謎解きは難易度が高いものが多いので「どうしても分からなくなったら開く本」がゲーム内に準備されています。
厳重にロックがかかった分厚い本で、本の表紙に設置されているミニゲームをクリアすると本が自動で開き、該当する場所を見せてくれます。
では本の中を見てみましょう。
ヒントです！ものすごく詳細です(LOL)
実際には左ページは古代文字のようで全く読めませんが、右側のイラストをじっくりみることで「必要なアイテム」「どのタイミングで何をすれば良いか」「何がどうなって現状が解決するか」が分かります。
このイラストによるヒントがすっごく味があって本当に面白いです。
絵も手描きの丁寧な描写が美しいです。
他にも謎解きとパズルの組み合わせもいっぱいあります。
- まず一つ目の謎を解いて数字を入力して扉を開けて部屋に入る
- 開けるべき箱を見つけてタップする
- パズルゲームがスタートするので、パズルを解いて箱を開ける
- アイテムを入手して、次の謎を解く
という感じで、1個クリアしただけでは先へ進めないようになっていることが多く、工夫と試行錯誤を続けるのがこのゲームの醍醐味です。
全体的を通して非常にノスタルジックで美しい絵で仕上がっていて、手描きの配管や機械設備は温かみがあり、見ていて心が和みます。
色合いは全面セピア色が多いですが、こんな感じのビビッドなピンク色の服装のキャラクターも登場します。
BGMも素敵で、とても良いです。
前回ご紹介したゲーム同様、ゲームの途中にそれほど多くのヒントはありません。
気になるところをプレイヤーが自分で触って触って「隠された謎はないか」という探索を楽しむのですが、かなりハイレベルの謎解きとパズルがあります。
分からなくなったらインターネット上に公開されている「攻略情報」にアクセスして、諦めずに最後までプレイすることをお勧めします。
最後までクリアしたら、明るいハッピーエンディングをみることができますよ。

こちらの会社が制作されたゲームは他にも有名なものがいっぱいあって、どのゲームも世界中のプレイヤーから非常に高い評価を得ているようです。
先ほども書きましたが、説明が少ないゲームで、画面を触って触って謎を解いていくので「まず手始めに何をしたらいいのか分からない」ということもあるゲームが多いです。
でもそれが楽しい。
私はAmanita Designのゲームがとても気に入り、いくつか心から楽しんでプレイ＆クリアしましたので、次回以降もご紹介できたらと思います。

台風が次々と発生し、綺麗に日本のそばを通過していく日々です。
「お盆（夏季休暇）を過ぎたら台風シーズン」というルーティンを忠実に守っていますね。
今週は久しぶりに日本全土に上陸する台風が来そうです。
