Reading through a book recently, I was reminded of something I’ve known for a while now - that we are where we are today because of who we've been listening to.
That realization hit me years ago, and over time, I’ve dug deeper into it. The more I learn, the more it all starts to make sense.
You see, as humans, we are designed as triune beings: spirit, soul, and body.
Notice I didn’t say "body, soul, and spirit"
And that, right there, is where many people miss it. That's where many begin to miss alignment in life-They allow the body and soul to dominate the spirit.
We live in a world that has become highly civilization-driven—where science is the all-in-all, and logic is the currency of trust-if it doesn't appeal to logic, then there is no trusting.
Don’t get me wrong, science has done wonders. It has elevated how we live, how we travel, how we communicate, even how we heal. But that same science has also made many of us over-rational, so much so that we begin to push aside that deeper parts of our humanity.
Growing up as a boy, I often sensed this “pull”—a kind of inner nudge or unlearned awareness that seemed to guide my choices.
I would just know things without any prior exposure. Sometimes I would have a strong feeling about an event before it happened. I might not understand it at the time, but more often than not, those situations would unfold exactly as I sensed.
Of course, I was a science student and I knew all about logical deduction and reasoning. But what I was experiencing had nothing to do with that. This wasn’t a math problem or a scientific theory. Not at all.Something deeper was at play. I believe mothers understand this better, as they relate with their newborn babies.
As I matured, I began to understand that we aren’t just physical beings—we are spiritual, soulish, and bodily.
Let me explain this:
The body houses your organs—the physical you.
The soul is the seat of your intellect, emotions, and conscience—how you think, feel, and process.
But the spirit… that is the real you. It’s the part of you that knows without learning.
Time and again, I’ve being in conversations where one of the parties would say things like:
“Wow, what you just said—I’ve been sensing something similar for days now.”
Or,
“I knew something wasn’t right, I should have trusted that feeling. If only I had listened to that thing inside me!”
And deep inside me I would smile and say "hmm, that's the spirit part of this person speaking. "
Don’t get me wrong—science is valuable. It gives us frameworks for making calculated decisions. But if we let it drown out the voice of our spirit, we miss out on an entire dimension of insight. Oh yes!
Your inner intuition—that quiet, gentle knowing—isn't some mysterious fluke.(I personally don't bother mysef with those mystical gibberish). It's your spirit communicating with you. And the more you ignore it, the fainter it becomes.
Thanks🙏 for reading. I’ll stop here for now so it doesn’t get too long, but trust me—we've just scratched the surface.
In future posts, I’ll be touching on training one's self to listen more clearly to the spirit—because that, my friend, might be the most important skill you'll ever develop as you journey in life.
