Hi Vibes Family 💜
Welcome to Week 37!
This week’s theme took us all the way back to the 1930s and 1940s, so I decided to sing “I’d Rather Be Blue Over You” by Fanny Brice, which was released in 1929.
Scoring this song took me quite a while, the boppy, old-school rhythm felt so different from anything I’ve done before. But eventually, it all came together, and I’m so glad I stuck with it.
I just love how soft, playful, and at the same time, deeply emotional the lyrics are. It’s a sad song… but it’s sung in such a charming way. I truly loved every second of recording it, and I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed performing it.
Edit: I noticed my video was lagging because of the editing app I used to combine my intro and entry. Anyway, here is the my performance without the intro.

Here are lyrics:
I'd rather be blue thinking of you
I'd rather be blue over you
Than be happy with somebody else
I'm crazy about'cha, without'cha
For you I'm strong.
I can't do without'cha
Howcha magoucha?
Don't stay too long.
I need a little ah, little ooh, little oh,
And I'm knocking on wood.
Ah, honey hurry up, hurry up, hurry up
It's so hard to be good
I'd rather be blue thinking of you
I'd rather be blue over you
Than be happy with somebody else
Will I be good? Will I be bad?
Don't be a fool, you fool.
My little flat, I'm turning that
Into a Sunday school
While you're away, I'm here to say
There'll be no iceman there.
Singin' the blues I'm gonna use
Nothin' but Frigidaire.
I'd rather be blue thinking of you
I'd rather be blue over you
Than be happy with somebody else
Blue over you, I'd rather be blue over you
Than be hap-hap-hap-happy
With somebody else.
