Hello, music lovers.
It's Winanda here for the Vibes Web3 Music Competition Week 33. This week has made us explore other languages and learn a bit about them. As the theme is Second Language, which I had felt like a flash in my mind, "what if?"
I made it open to my siblings and one of my brothers (the German guy), suggested a German song and I was like: "I wouldn't want to cut my tongue while singing..." Anyway, I listened to some new nice songs and after that I thought Mon Amor by Slimane would be nice to perform, which I first heard during the Eurovision 2024 and I liked it without knowing the meaning, so after a research on the meaning, my interest to perform it dropped. Haha.
The song, Jerusalema by the South African artists, Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode, came into the picture, and it felt like the perfect song to cover, especially the message in the lyrics and the timing of this particular theme.
The lyrics are in Zulu, one of the languages in South Africa. It's a song I liked when it was released and still like. I had to learn the lyrics to cover it confidently. So, as a Nigerian, this was my choice of song for this week's theme.
"Jerusalema" is a song that calls out for guidance to gain admittance into the heavenly home, a place of peace, joy and safety. It reminds us of the limited time we have to spend in this world, what we need to do and how to do it. There is a better place to desire to be, and no one wants to be left behind.
Knowing that this place, this world, is not our home, we have a period to spend here on earth and will give account of how well we have lived our lives.
I lost my grandma on the 4th February 2025, who lived 102 years, and that hit me and reminded me of the limited time we have. We won't live here forever, but we long to be in a heavenly place with our creator after we have passed away.
The life we live and the heart we have would probably determine where we will be after here. Her funeral is in a few days, and we pray for a successful and peaceful ceremony.
I'm grateful to be in this wonderful community with our amazing judges, @lordbutterfly, who came up with the initiative of the Vibes community, @silentscreamer, @verbal-d and other sponsors behind this great project and to have met and connected with some amazing artists as well. I have learned from this community. Thanks so much.
I hope you enjoy my performance, feel the positive vibes and emotions as well as the message the song brings.
Hugs and much love. 🤗 ❤️
