So a few weeks ago, a Discord server where I was organized a game night event where we would be playing Counter Strike 1.5...you heard me right, its not CS 1.6...but 1.5. And while at first I was intrigued about that idea, I actually couldn't tell too much the difference aside from playing maps that likely were in 1.6 but nobody plays, and the arms and skins looking different here. But in any case, the reason why this idea happened is because the server has a thing for classic old games and this is how the idea came to be.
In any case I could describe that the first match went like the average cs_assault games for me every time I play online, aside from the addition of hearing the people playing through voice chat: Either I get smacked in the face with a bullet from the warehouse and spend the rest of the round watching how the other players on my team do their thing, or I actually get to shotgun someone in the face then run around in circles to see if I could find someone else to catch off-guard. There was one time I shot at a door many times but unfortunately the guy was just a few steps away from it and, while I heard him react to that, had the information to shoot me on-sight in the moment I went through the door.
It was in cs_estate where I started getting my gears going though: An enclosed house with the enemies inside while I played CT with my favorite shotgun? Now THAT was fun! I still remember how the very first round I just went "LEEEROYYYY JENKIIIINS" into the door and shot down someone on the entrance. After some rounds there were even some that were like "heya you should use another weapon" because of how ridiculous I was getting with it 🤣
That said, I still came out empty handed sometimes as some of my teammates did quick work of the other team before I even saw someone, while other times I happened to either run into a room with three people (which guaranteed that at least one of them would get me even if I took down the other two) or got ambushed from behind. But even then, this was probably the best match I had in classic Counter Strike in forever...aside from occasional wins I got in cs_poolday, but unfortunately haven't played with the HiveGC boys again since I somehow got banned on their favorite server by doing nothing.
Also I found a toilet in the map and I had to tell everybody it was a pretty nice toilet. There was no need to have something like this but the creators still did.
And then there was de_dust2. Like water and oil, Mario and Sonic, red pill or blue pill...the de_dust2 matches I had here were the complete opposite of my great cs_estate games as either with the dumb shotgun unga or even with a more preferred automatic rifle, I still kept getting shot from miles away (and sometimes even up close against all odds). So pretty much my teammates had to carry my dumb monkey self...and often were failing to do that as the other team was getting their best game on at that moment.
So that's that. A bunch of playing Counter-Strike 1.5 with some Discord buddies, some of which were actually playing in real Windows 98 retro computers (since that's what the server motif was, but of course I was playing on my modern PC). I happened to record these games; one of which was in a video above (exclusively recording the cs_assault games), while the other one I will be leaving below. Funnily enough I forgot to enable my mic in OBS Studio, so you will hear other people's banter but I will be silent instead.
Oh well. Things have been great and not great here at the same time. But that's a story for another day, wherever I happen to be at that point.

Hubo una vez en la que disparé a una puerta muchas veces, pero desgraciadamente el tipo estaba a pocos pasos de ella y, mientras le oía reaccionar, tenía la información para dispararme a la vista en el momento en que atravesaba la puerta.
