Alright I get it, language, and yes, the first and only time that line was actually used it didn't go well at all. But before John Romero's reputation in the gaming industry started sinking like Tommy Wiseau due to Daikatana, he was highly regarded like Shigeru Miyamoto back when he made the huge success that became Doom along with his team of wizard programmers and iD software. And if you want to talk about why this game would be worth revisiting today aside from "hurr durr historical purposes", then let me put it in a way you can understand.
Doom is all about giving...well, doom to the enemies where you are at, and your first encounters will be against zombies...WITH GUNS!!! This would be a frightening idea in any other zombie game as getting swarmed by normal zombies is already a big deal in some games (you don't want to be left for dead with a bunch of those, do you?), and unlike Stormtroopers, they got a good aim...but you are also armed with a gun, a surprising amount of speed, and even your own fists if bullets are out, to take out any kind of armed zombie wanting your head, and their threatening weapons can be yours once you kill them. So you can get ammo for your gun from the pistol zombies, and you can get the almighty Shotgun as a prize for getting your first kill against a shotgun zombie.
As the game is split in 3 episodes, what you are seeing are the first levels of the first episode, with a fitting name and level design in that you're just starting to get knee-deep in the dead (🤠) with threatening enemies for a first encounter but also trivial to eliminate on the first level, and the second level introduces you to doors that need red, blue or yellow keycards to open and progress. This already gets you to know that the four important things to know for this game is to get the keys, kill em all, watch your ammo...and don't die. The game doesn't even need you to aim up or down against enemies (since in the original game you couldn't do this, some source ports let you do this but you can still use the vertical aim assist in those) so you only have to know where are you standing and where are you aiming at to fire away.
Oh, and at certain points on the second and third level, you will also be introduced to a staple on some of these levels: If you see a key standing alone on a seemingly safe room, you might want to turn around and walk backwards to grab the key just in case touching it opens a bunch of doors with monsters inside; these surprise moments can be anywhere (not just involving keys, but also as simply as crossing over a certain area) and they will definitely be useful to force you awake from an otherwise unexpected sense of safety in a game where there will be much worse to come for you.
And just in those three first levels of Doom, you already get to learn a lot of what you need to know by experience or by force (and by force I mean that you might easily die of mistakes, though the game warps you back to the start of the level if you die, and you can save and load anytime anywhere on the map), as well as stuff like finding secret switches to find secret areas with ammo, weapons and powerups (some of these also get marked as checked on the "secrets" counter in the minimap if you run through one). So, well, if you haven't tried this game before, why don't you give it a shot now? There's a shareware WAD of Doom which contains only the first episode, but that alone is both a lot of fun and enough to give you a taste of what more can come from just Doom itself, let alone with the amount of custom content avaliable for it.
And yes, feel free to use whatever difficulty you want to try it, though don't be an idiot in picking Nightmare on the first attempts, since the enemies there are made to move and shoot way faster, and they revive after a certain amount of time...so yeah, never do that unless you have become a Doom veteran.

Asà que puedes conseguir munición para tu pistola de los zombis de pistola, y puedes conseguir la todopoderosa Escopeta como premio por conseguir tu primera muerte contra un zombi de escopeta.
Como el juego está dividido en 3 episodios, lo que estás viendo son los primeros niveles del primer episodio, con un nombre y un diseño de niveles muy apropiado en el sentido de que estás empezando a meterte en los muertos hasta las rodillas (🤠) con enemigos amenazantes para un primer encuentro pero también triviales para eliminar en el primer nivel, y el segundo nivel te introduce en las puertas que necesitan tarjetas llave rojas, azules o amarillas para abrirse y progresar. Ah, y en ciertos puntos del segundo y tercer nivel, también se te presentará una grapa en algunos de estos niveles: Si ves una llave sola en una habitación aparentemente segura, es posible que quieras darte la vuelta y caminar hacia atrás para coger la llave por si acaso al tocarla se abren un montón de puertas con monstruos dentro; estos momentos de sorpresa pueden darse en cualquier parte (no sólo en lo que respecta a las llaves, sino también tan sencillamente como cruzar una zona determinada) y serán definitivamente útiles para obligarte a despertar de una sensación de seguridad inesperada en un juego en el que habrá cosas mucho peores para ti.
Y sólo en esos tres primeros niveles de Doom, ya consigues aprender mucho de lo que necesitas saber por experiencia o por fuerza (y por fuerza me refiero a que puedes morir fácilmente por errores, aunque el juego te devuelve al principio del nivel si mueres, y puedes guardar y cargar en cualquier momento en cualquier parte del mapa), asà como cosas como encontrar interruptores secretos para encontrar zonas secretas con munición, armas y potenciadores (algunas de ellas también se marcan como marcadas en el contador de "secretos" en el minimapa si pasas por una). Asà que, bueno, si no has probado este juego antes, ¿por qué no le das una oportunidad ahora? Hay un WAD shareware de Doom que contiene sólo el primer episodio, pero eso por sà solo es muy divertido y suficiente para darte una idea de lo que puede llegar a ser sólo Doom, por no hablar de la cantidad de contenido personalizado disponible para él.
