I've heard of the Jet Moto games which may be worth a try - reception on those three games seems to be mixed depending of who you ask, but maybe I will just to get a fill of more waterbike racing whenever I'm through with Wave Race Blue Storm. But it sure makes sense it was a flagship game for the N64 knowing it was an early release yet was quite the looker on its own back in the day, more so compared to Jet Moto.
I often wonder why we haven't seen any spiritual successors to this genre of game, and I think it is sad that we don't.
When you point that out...yeah, it is weird there hasn't been any games trying to do what Wave Race did. Closest thing to that would be the Riptide GP games in a roundabout way [its most definitely not trying to be Wave Race, but still seems like fun arcadey waterbike racing, and also has the same developers who made the awesome Hydro Thunder Hurricane], but I am pretty sure someone is developing an old-school styled snowboarding game named Tricky Madness.
So...there's only a spot for a throwback waterbike racing game left. Maybe the cloest thing to Wave Race's return could happen with Nintendo adding the game to the Switch 2 online service though [not that I have one, but at the very least know they made the game playable again for people that do].
And of course the game itself is quite the thrill to practice and get good at, getting better and better at handling the tougher courses until you can take all first places in the championshp.
Thanks for your comment - I definitely enjoy writing a lot about games that give me a lot to play with and talk about :]
