Welcome everybody, this is my post to the initiative Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge from the user @marcoquin. I think it´s a good idea to remember the good moments from the past and give thanks to retro consoles, it´s thanks to them we can enjoy gaming as we do today, sometimes it´s good to remember how we started everything and where we come from. Before starting, I´d like to apologize to everyone taking part of this challenge, I couldn´t find any photo of my old Nintendo 64 and that video console is no longer with me so my most sincere apologies. Anyways, I´ll do my best to make this post as great as the other entries; if you want to participate, I recommend you to read the full challenge here.

The old and good Nintendo 64, what can I say about it that we don´t know already? The Nintendo 64 was released at 1996 with games that defined the videogame history forever, I´m talking about games like Super Mario 64 or The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The Nintendo 64 is one of those consoles that has one of the best catalogues ever but even this, the Nintendo 64 was actually a somehow failure to Nintendo due to its low sales compared to the PlayStation at that time and this is actually Nintendo´s fault, it wasn´t easy to make games for the Nintendo 64 due to its software and hardware, besides, it was more attractive to use disks like the PlayStation did, cartridges were kinda obsolete at that time. Even if it was a failure or it had low sells, it´s undeniable that the Nintendo 64 has one of the best catalogues in a videogame console ever.

My history with the Nintendo 64 is kinda weird, so I got it as a gift from my uncle and all but when I wanted to play with it days later, the console didn´t want to turn on, meaning the Nintendo 64 died, a few days after receiving it, it´s a sad thing but another uncle brought me a different Nintendo 64 and that´s it. When you think about it, it´s hilarious to finally get a video console and when you finally got it, the thing doesn´t work but in the end I was lucky another uncle brought me a different Nintendo 64. The Nintendo 64 stayed with me a long time until I had to sell it, I needed the money, that´s why I can´t take any photo about it.

The Nintendo 64 I had came with an expansion pack, an accessory which helped to upgrade the ram of the system, it had three contollers so I got to play a lot with my family and friends, I have some awesome memories playing the Nintendo 64 with my friends. Regarding the games, I had a lot of them actually, so many gems like: Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda Majora´s Mask, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Super Smash Bros, Mortal Kombat 4, Mario Party 2, Star Fox 64...and so many others.

Whenever I think about the Nintendo 64, I remember the countless hours I spent in Super Mario 64 and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time; I also think about many games I used to play like Star Fox 64, or the memories when playing Mario Party 2 or Mario Kart 64 with my friends, hating us for sabotage each others. I don´t care about the bad sales the system had, to me at least, the Ninteno 64 is one of the best videogame consoles ever and the one that brought me to the awesome gaming world.

Bienvenidos a todos, este es mi post para la iniciativa Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge del usuario @marcoquin. Creo que es buena idea recordar los buenos momentos del pasado y agradecer a las consolas retro, es gracias a ellas que podemos disfrutar de los videojuegos como lo hacemos hoy día, a veces es bueno recordar cómo empezamos todo y de dónde venimos. Antes de comenzar, me gustaría pedir disculpas a todos los que han participado en este challenge, no pude encontrar ninguna foto de mi vieja Nintendo 64 y esa consola ya no está conmigo así que mis más sinceras disculpas. La vieja y buena Nintendo 64, ¿qué puedo decir al respecto que no sepamos ya? La Nintendo 64 se lanzó en 1996 con juegos que marcaron para siempre la historia de los videojuegos, hablo de juegos como Super Mario 64 o The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. La Nintendo 64 es una de esas consolas que tiene uno de los mejores catálogos de la historia, pero a pesar de esto, la Nintendo 64 fue en realidad un fracaso para Nintendo debido a sus bajas ventas en comparación con la PlayStation y esto en realidad es culpa de Nintendo. No fue fácil hacer juegos para la Nintendo 64 debido a su software y hardware, esto añadiendo que era más atractivo usar discos como lo hacía la PlayStation, los cartuchos eran algo obsoletos en ese momento. Incluso si fue un fracaso o tuvo pocas ventas, es innegable que la Nintendo 64 tiene uno de los mejores catálogos en una consola de videojuegos.

Mi historia con la Nintendo 64 es un poco extraña, la recibí como un regalo de mi tío, pero cuando quise jugar con ella días después, la consola no quería encender, lo que significa que la Nintendo 64 murió, básicamente a unos pocos días después de haberla recibido. Es algo triste si lo piensas, más teniendo en cuenta que era mi primera cónsola, pero otro tío un tiempo después me trajo una Nintendo 64 diferente y así se solventó el problema. Es irónico, finalmente haber conseguido una cónsola y cuando la tienes, la cosa no funcione, pero al final tuve suerte de que otro tío me trajera una Nintendo 64 diferente. La Nintendo 64 se quedó conmigo mucho tiempo hasta que la tuve que vender por razones monetarias, por eso no puedo sacarle ninguna foto.

La Nintendo 64 que tenía venía con un expansion pack, un accesorio que ayudaba a actualizar la memoria RAM del sistema, tenía tres controles, así que pude jugar mucho con mi familia y amigos, tengo algunos recuerdos increíbles jugando a la Nintendo 64 con mis amigos. En cuanto a los juegos, tenía muchos de ellos en realidad, tantas gemas como: Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda Majora´s Mask, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, Super Smash Bros, Mortal Kombat 4, Mario Party 2, Star Fox 64 ... y tantos otros.

Siempre que pienso en la Nintendo 64, recuerdo las incontables horas que invertí en Super Mario 64 y The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time; también pienso en muchos juegos que solía jugar como Star Fox 64, o los recuerdos cuando jugaba a Mario Party 2 o Mario Kart 64 con mis amigos, odiándonos por sabotearnos unos a otros. No me importan las malas ventas que tuvo el sistema, al menos para mí, la Nintendo 64 es una de las mejores consolas de videojuegos de la historia y la que me llevó al increíble mundo de los videojuegos.
