All pictures are screenshots I took in the game.
Oh my oh my! I did not expect this!
I played bioshock 1 and bioshock 2 in the past years. It's really a game that everyone should play. I strongly recommend it. I will do my best not to give spoilers about the games. So at least I will not give spoilers about the 1st and 2nd game. But this game... Infinite... It's completely different!
BioShock Infinite, Do Not Miss This Game!
Even in the menu you can understand the theme of the game!
As soon as you enter the game, it says hello to you with the main menu. Yes, absolutely, absolutely, the graphics are not as beautiful as the perfectly detailed realistic graphics of today. But thanks to its stylized air, this game offers you an incredible adventure.
BioShock Infinite offers something you've never seen before (if you haven't played games 1 and 2). Even in those games, your location was underwater. In this game, your location is above the clouds! It's a paradise!
Or is it really?
As you can see in the images, the stylized theme and graphics of the game starts to greet you from the main menu. That's why the feeling of getting used to it and wanting to explore this world comes very quickly.
The Feeling of Graphics
I talked a little bit about the graphics, but as I said, it doesn't surprise me that every single line is stylized and it's very obvious that it's been worked on. The BioShock series has always been different from the others. If you want to feel yourself in other worlds, this is the game for you.
The comic book feel + real life references + the use of visuals from old time American movies and the quality of the graphics that you could see on TV once upon a time gives the game a completely different feel.
I played the game in full graphics. All values are maxed out. And there are really no compatibility issues. A few minutes are enough to pull you into this world. So much so that when I was going to play for 1 hour, I realized that I played for almost 2.5 hours when the game was over.
You want to explore everywhere. The visuals start off so mesmerizing that you want to see how they drew everything around you. The fact that the 3d models and environmental graphics do not make you forget that you are in the game, but still draw you into the game is really admirable.
Sound Design and Music
Do you remember the radios that used to play in old American movies? There are also some movies that have come out recently, about the past. They have a slightly scratchy, not quite clear. Like a vinyl record effect. It draws you in as if you were listening to the music on a record. Instantly!
This is a really incredible feature. They could have chosen to make the songs completely clear, but the producers and developers of the game made the right decision and placed them like records.
The sounds in the environment are clearer than the music, so what happens is that you're going along with the music and suddenly an NPC from the middle of real life speaks and it reminds you very well what is real. So it's really effective that people's voices are fresh and sweet and clean. It's very different to put a perfect violin with a human voice and a violin that sounds like a slightly distorted old recording with a human voice.
As if that wasn't enough, they've done a great job with the directional sound. If there is a sound coming from somewhere in the game, when you turn around, the music in that place moves away. So you are not constantly bombarded with music. It doesn't scratch your ears all the time.
You start to understand the story, just by walking around !
I don't want to give spoilers about the story of the game, you can understand it by looking at the incredible visuals. But I have to say that by walking around, you can understand the story and the ideas of the NPCs, the people. How they live, what they eat, what they drink, how they chat, what their culture is like, just by walking around.
Besides the people, it also gives you a lot of opportunities to explore what this existing city in the sky, is like?. The game starts as a traveling, and exploring the game, you learn the story by exploring. You understand it through the recordings you find around, the people you overhear.
It also shows you the story of the game and where you've come from through many things like signs, pictures, paintings, announcements and statues. This was really successful.
In addition to that, we're looking for someone called Elizabeth. I haven't seen her at the moment, I've been busy exploring around, and normally when I play a game I try it for an hour and if I like it, I continue. BioShock Infinite drew me in so much as a story, the immersive nature of the environment impressed me so much that I'm thinking of continuing this game.
Combat
The combat in the game is about FPS . There is a power called Vigor and you need to drink potions to get to use this power. Thanks to these potions, you get various different powers. For example, you can make a robot your friend. You can shoot fire from your hands. You can shoot a swarm of bees and so on. BioShock 1-2 also used these in other previous games. And it really needed to bring it to this game again. They did it and they did it well in a way that was enjoyable.
The combat feels good in the game. I started with medium especially, as you can see in the image at the very beginning. I don't like too much difficulty, but if you are careless, you will die for sure. More than one enemy, the police, can chase you. This chase can sometimes get dangerous and you cannot escape. The game has a linear storyline so you have to complete the combats successfully.
As in FPS games, you have a gun and you have a few bullets. You can collect more of these bullets by traveling around. There are bullets in various cabinets.
You can also eat food to heal. You can replenish your life by eating things like hot dogs, apples and pears. It's a really cool thing, the game isn't all combat and they've used it as a good way to tell the story. It makes you want to continue the story by defeating the obstacles you come across. That was a very nice thing.
Conclusion: 10/10 ?
So far I have played the first 1 hour (technically 2 hours) and it has given me everything it promised. It even gave me more than what it promised. I can guess that the story is also excellent because I played the 1st and 2nd game and you can play this game independently of the previous games. However, I think you will enjoy it more if you play 1 and 2 because there are references to the previous games.
So, I'm sure that the story of this game will also be excellent. The graphics are beautiful, the soundtrack is excellent, the environment design is great and the NPC dialogs have been adequate so far. In addition, even though I'm not a fan of FPS combat, BioShock has set it up perfectly.
I give the game 10/10.
I hope you will play it and enjoy it. Let me say goodbye with a few screenshots. Don't worry, you will find more and more as you explore the game! The price is also really affordable because it's an old game.
I recommend it to everyone. Here is a kiss for you :D I hope you enjoy the game.
I will continue to review new games every Monday, see you soon!
