We were in the CIA Safehouse E9 and before going for the next main mission, I got two optional side missions unlocked and were available on te evidence board. As both optional side missions are connected to the main mission, I decided to work on them so I won't have any complications later for not tryin them out.
Operation Chaos:
The team peruses a rogue CIA officer, Robert Aldrich, who is helping Perseus set up a spy network withing the United States
Mason and Woods were sent for this mission where I had to play as Mason and we got intel that Aldrich was about to move south across Colorado and into northern New Mexico. That's where we decided to intercept his convoy.
It was February 23, 1981, at near the Border of Colorado and New Mexico and I found ourselves in a chopper, at the night when the pilot was saying we were 30 seconds out so we got prepared for a fight.
We found some trucks running fast and Aldrich was in one of them so we went ahead of them and we ambushed them from the front. When we were fighting the terrorists there, one of our pilots confirmed, Aldrich was running through the gas station.
Aldrich moved into a motel taking some gunmen with him and there were terrorists all over this place just to save this one man. We kept pushing and I got distracted seeing this beautiful car there. I hate to say that I broke its front and read window to shoot a terrorist.
The pilot confirmed that Aldrich went up to the second floor and we also went there to crash their party. There were two gunmen as bodyguards of Aldrich. After shooting the bodyguards, I shot down Aldrich and it was in the focus mode.
Aldrich was finished but our task was not. Woods asked me to get a picture of the corpse for the CIA family photo album. I just knew it was for evidence of kill so I got a good picture using a camera.
After getting the photo, we had to get out of there but there was chaos outside. The terrorists took out one of our choppers and they started to surround us from everywhere.
There were trucks pulling in off the highway and it was hot down there so our extraction point got to be the top of the gas station. We just had to reach the chopper to get out of there and finish this mission.
Operation Red Circus:
Soviet Major Vadim Rudnik is helping Perseus plant agents within European governments. The team has to take Rudnik out.
I had to choose three suspects out of eight to start this mission and I went for Harvey Spray, Claire Koberstein and Aaron Lee. Mason and Woods were also on this mission where I had to play Mason.
It was the same day (February 23, 1981), at The Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR and it looked like we went for some snow this time. The whole area looked filled with terrorists.
There was this tower up above on the far ridge that I had to mark using the binocular so our air team could destroy it and make a distraction. I had total 13 minutes before Rudnik escapes after the blast.
I had to look for Rudnik at three locations (1. Motor Pool, 2. Radar Station, 3. Fuel Depot) and as I had limited times, I didn't want to waste it and I tried to be fast. I didn't found Rudnik at the first location (Fuel Depot) so I was going for the next one.
When I was on the ground fighting the enemies up front, Woods were supporting me with sniping some of them. And when I was fighting the enemies at the second location, Woods confirmed he saw Rudnik was heading out the back, to the other location.
I already spent more than half times and I didn't want to let the culprit escape so I used that snow-bike to get to the next location fast but it was filled with enemies that I had to take care of.
I found the culprit after breaching that door of the bunker and there was a bodyguard along with him. After shooting them down, I was asked to get photos of the corpse as the command needs kill confirmation.
Evan chopper was inbounding but I had to pop some smoke to mark my location and I could do it anywhere I wanted. When the chopper was flying to my location, I had to hold off the enemies.
At last the hopper came to evacuate me but it was not so easy to get in the chopper as there were enemies all around the place. When we were going out of the place after completing the mission, Woods was cracking cokes that you can find on the subtitle on the picture above.
