Season's Greetings Gamers
A couple of nights ago I couldn't get to sleep, so I decided to fire up The Witcher 3 and wander in the Skellige Isles. The footage above has no commentary as it was filmed around 3.30am and I didn't want to wake other members of my household. Also, the music on this footage is pretty incredible so I think this video works better without my commentary.
As I was heading over to meet Nidas to do the Black Pearl quest it started snowing.I'm pretty sure this is the sun rising rather than setting as it only got brighter during the day.The Witcher 3's sunrises and sunsets have always been incredible but with the next-gen update, they are even more eye-poppingly gorgeous. The screenshots don't do them justice, its better to see it in the video.
On the way to meet Nidas Geralt stops to admire the view.
We first met Nidas on the streets of Novigrad. He wants our help to find a rare black pearl here in the waters of Skellige.
As we walk down to the beach Im still in awe of the beauty all around us...
Gazing out to sea Nidas tells us this is where we will find a black pearl...
Those icy cold waters are going to be to much for Nidas to handle so its up to Geralt to do the diving.
I take a minute to spin the camera around to enjoy the visuals of the beach area...
Then we start wading out toward the icy depths...
The sirens here can be taken out with one shot from our crossbow.
These glowing red spots are where we need to search for the pearl.
I think it took 5 or 6 attempts before I found a black one.
I didn't pay attention to my breath meter and came VERY close to drowning!
Thankfully we made it to the surface just in time. If I had drowned I would have had to endure a long loading screen and would have had to hunt for the black pearl again!
As we swim towards the shore we see Nidas being attacked by a group of drowners...
Some quick swordplay puts an end to them.
Nidas survives the drowner attack and we let him know we found the black pearl.
Geralt agrees it was wise of Nidas not to bring any coin to the pirate and bandit-infested Skellige Isles...
We agree to meet in Novigrad to settle the payment.
Nidas sets out for Novigrad while Geralt continues to wander the coastline of the Skellige Isles.
Before jumping back into the next-gen world of the Witcher I would have said Ghost of Tsushima was the most beautiful open-world game I have ever played. After capturing this footage from a relatively simple quest I am kinda blown away by how much fun it is just to wander in Geralt's world.
Being in The Skellige Isles at this time of year feel's especially appropriate...the visuals look so good I can almost feel an icy chill emanating from my tv screen.
I hope you guys enjoyed this little adventure.Stay tuned for much more Witcher goodness over the holidays!
