I didn't expect this game to get so raw so quickly, I remember the first time I played it when I was 13 it got so dark so suddenly, I guess it's part of the pace that the developers wanted to print in this title but it still surprises me all the dark messages and disgusting scenes that come out here
In case you didn't know this game is one of the most innovative military shooters of its time, not because of its graphics or its innovative gameplay but because of its story since few shooters have put a plot so little expected by the players from a base that can be almost the same as many other games of this generation
Spec Ops is about a special group of soldiers who are in charge of a rescue mission in a devastated Dubai but it quickly becomes a spiral of chaos and conspiracy that we will have to discover while suffering hallucinatory attacks on the battlefield as well as unexpected twists in the story
I've been playing it all this week and I've been able to try out various things it has and also experience Again, the whole story is what I find to be the highlight of this title, because of how disruptive it is and how unconventional it is to see good stories told in games like war shooters
Truly the best thing about this game are those little hallways where they show you all the atrocities that have been committed by both the locals and the different exercises that have tried to help Dubai, I find it so disturbing and there are scenes that are even worse where we are an active part of annihilating a good part of the population and in fact all the games make it quite clear that we are the villains in many of these cases
I'm not going to spoil it here but I can say that there are many disturbing moments where maybe a civilian comes out of nowhere and due to the shock we shoot them accidentally or there are several disturbing scenes where we can reach mass graves where a good part of the rebelling military are
But what we have to highlight about the gameplay is how complicated the shootings tend to be in this game and the exorbitant number of soldiers that come out of who knows where ready to shoot us and also on the hardest difficulty They are easy to kill if we don't have cover nearby or even if we do, they can maneuver to shoot us
I've already lost count of the times I've died in this game and there are situations where there is cover but the amount of shots that go towards us is overwhelming and there is certainly not a single second to get out of cover and shoot to kill, plus you have to be very accurate
It's stressful and it lowers your morale quite a bit after a while listening to all those shots in the air and I think that's the point that the developers want to make here, to make war look like what it really is, terrible in every sense and for everyone involved
There's also the issue of the decisions that you're given in this game, and it's that many of them contribute absolutely nothing and we always end up on the same path, maybe it's a bad implementation of the decisions or maybe a deeper message about how no matter what decision we make we're always on the same horrible path of war
Spec Ops I think is a game that all shooter lovers should play at some point, not because I don't see why its The controls and gameplay are diverse and quite engaging, but simply because of its story and what it tells, because I feel that very few games say what The Line says, there is a tendency to see war in a much more positive way than it really is and I think this title does a very good job of setting the record straight
It is a game that you should definitely play, although it is not available on most online platforms due to copyright issues and also because the developer closed its doors a few years ago and left the properties of games like this up in the air.
