I can't think of another game that I've enjoyed more in the last year than Cuphead, I knew that once I bought a decent pc this would be one of the first games I would install and complete it 100%, years have passed and this work is still as original as when it was released five years ago and I think it is one of the few games where a DLC does not feel like an attempt to earn a little more money at the expense of players but as an expansion of the main experience of the game, it has been a while until I finally decided to play it but now I am at the mercy of their levels and the difficulty so dizzying that prints in each of these.
It's all pretty straightforward when it comes to introducing Cuphead and Mugman's new adventure, they meet a boatman on one of the shores of the first island who takes them to a new area where we meet Ms. Chalice, well in fact we've already met Ms. Chalice. Well in fact we already knew her from the mausoleums but now due to a magic biscuit we can now pass the levels with her, not only the ones in this new island but we can also walk around the other islands passing by those bosses again, but if we stay in this new area we will meet the chef who is helping Chalice to come back to life again and he will entrust us with a search for ingredients to improve the effects of Ms. Chalice's biscuit.
And of course, these ingredients are provided by the bosses scattered all over the map which are the main course of this new adventure with several new additions, the most obvious being Ms. Chalice as a playable character who comes with notable differences to Cuphead's controls such as the jump where Ms. Chalice's has a little less reach and a little less range. Chalice has a little less range, we can't put any spells on her (since the biscuit to summon the teapot already counts as a spell) and the dash also works as an automatic parry which gives a new feel to the controls of the game as well as the levels of the base game, we will have along this new island some levels that serve well to teach us about these new mechanics of Ms. Chalice.
Speaking of the bosses I think this is where it all seems to follow the usual rule of Cuphead levels, they have memorable characters in each of them, with drawings that many could say could be protagonists of their own classic series plus each one has different stages each with their predominant attacks that flood the screen to the top, on the easier difficulties we have less stages to defeat as well as less attacks but it is on the classic difficulty where they really put us to the test and even more so when we have a limited amount of HP.
There are 6 main bosses with different stages filled with jazz music which again is one of the best features to grace these battles, plus they are filled with very clever sequences in each of the levels, so expect the unexpected because we can go from a cow in the barn shooting pint cans at us to that same cow now cooked and in a can, Some of the sequences while we are finishing with the bosses is just hilarious, although I do think that once you get used to the rhythm that these bosses print we will have easier to defeat them and even opt for the highest scores.
Similarly I think it is not the best thing to say that this new section of Cuphead is easier than the base game, yes we have some improvements with Chalice at the helm but I have always thought that this game gets easier the more you play it, the more you learn about the boss attacks and how to counterattack them and finally trying until they fall, this is the method I have used to pass the game.
It's a great extra content, it may have taken longer than most people want but it doesn't surprise me seeing how the creation process of this studio is, they have a very original way of creating their works and I think that whatever it takes they had a very good base to expand, the good thing is that Cuphead ends its cycle on a high note, I don't think we will see more content about the game and although it's a shame I think this is one of those games that when you play it you just think it's perfect in everything it wants to offer, and it's better to keep it that way.

Me cuesta trabajo pensar en otro juego que me haya divertido mas en este ultimo año que Cuphead, sabia que una vez hubiese comprado alguna pc decente este seria uno de los primeros juegos que instalaría y lo completaría al 100%, han pasado los años y esta obra sigue igual de original que cuando salio al mercado hace un lustro y creo que es de los pocos juegos en donde un DLC no se siente como un intento de ganar un poco mas de dinero a costa de los jugadores sino como una expansión de la experiencia principal del juego, ha pasado un tiempo hasta que por fin decidi jugarlo pero ahora estoy a merced de sus niveles y la dificultad tan vertiginosa que imprime en cada uno de estos.
Todo es bastante sencillo a la hora de introducirnos esta nueva aventura de Cuphead y Mugman, se topan con un barquero en una de las orillas de la primera isla que los lleva a una nueva zona en donde conocemos a Ms. Chalice, bueno de hecho ya la conociamos de los mausoleos pero ahora debido a una galleta magica podemos ahora pasar los niveles con ella, no solo los de esta nueva isla sino que tambien podemos pasearnos por las demas islas pasando nuevamente por aquellos bosses, pero si nos quedamos en esta nueva zona conoceremos al chef que esta ayudando a Chalice a volver nuevamente a la vida y nos encomendara una busqueda de ingredientes para mejorar los efectos de la galleta de Ms. Chalice.
Y por supuesto estos ingredientes los tienen los jefes esparcidos por todo el mapa que son el platillo principal de esta nueva aventura con distintas nuevas incorporaciones, la mas obvia de la Ms. Chalice como personaje jugable que viene con diferencias notables a los controles de Cuphead como el salto en donde el de Ms. Chalice tiene un poco menos de alcance, no le podemos poner algun hechizo (ya que la galleta para invocar a la tetera ya cuenta como hechizo) y el dash funciona tambien como un parry automático que le da un nuevo aire a los controles del juego así como a los niveles del juego base, tendremos a lo largo de esta nueva isla algunos niveles que sirven bien para enseñarnos sobre estas nuevas mecanicas de Ms. Chalice.
Hablando de los jefes creo que acá es donde todo parece seguir la regla habitual de los niveles de Cuphead, tienen personajes memorables en cada uno de ellos, con dibujos que muchos podrían decir que podrían ser protagonistas de su propia serie clásica ademas de que cada uno tiene distintas fases cada una con sus ataques predominantes que inundan la pantalla hasta el tope, en las dificultades mas sencillas tenemos menos fases que derrotar asi como menos ataques pero es en la dificultad clasica en donde de verdad nos ponen a prueba y mas aun cuando tenemos una cantidad limitada de HP.
Hay 6 jefes principales con distintas fases repletas de musica jazz que nuevamente se presenta como una de las mejores facetas para adornar estas batallas, ademas de que estan repletas de muy ingeniosas secuencias en cada uno de lo niveles, asi que hay que esperar lo inesperado porque podemos pasar de una vaca en el establo disparandonos latas de pinta a esa misma vaca ahora cocinada y en una lata, algunas de las secuencias mientras vamos acabando con los jefes es simplemente hilarante, aunque si pienso que una vez acostumbrado al ritmo que imprimen estos bosses tendremos mas facil el poder derrotarlos y hasta incluso optar por las calificaciones mas altas.
De igual forma creo que no es lo mejor decir que esta nueva seccion de Cuphead es mas facil que el juego base, si que tenemos algunas mejorias con Chalice al mando pero siempre he pensado que este juego se hace mas facil mientras mas lo juegues, vayas aprendiendo sobre los ataques de los bosses y saber como contraatacarlos y finalmente intentandolo hasta que que caigan, este es el metodo que yo he utilizado para pasarme el juego.
Es un genial contenido extra, quiza se haya tardado mas de lo que muchos quieren pero no me extraña viendo como es el proceso de creacion de este estudio, tienen una forma de lo mas original de crear sus obras y creo que tarden lo que tarden tenian una muy buena base para expandir, lo bueno es que Cuphead termina su ciclo con una nota alta, no creo que veamos mas contenido sobre el juego y aunque es una lastima creo que este es uno de esos juegos que cuando los juegas solo piensas que es perfecto en todo lo que quiere ofrecer, y es mejor mantenerlo asi.
