Have you ever thought that one of the games you're playing is quite similar to another one you played in the past?
I'm not talking about the specific genre but the feeling you get from exploring a world compared to one you explored when you were little, because that's the feeling that this little game that I've been playing for a week now has left me with.
Hyper Light Drifter, maybe it wasn't on my list at the beginning of the year when I was putting together the games I wanted to play in 2025 but I must admit that it has taken longer than I thought. I thought I was going to take it because it's so damn good, I have to admit that
It's a game that strikes a chord with me because since I was a kid I've really liked Zelda-style exploration games and this one has done quite a bit to emulate that beauty and mystery of the world while developing my senses of exploration with each new dungeon I explore. I investigate
I can't seem to get enough of it and how mysterious the plot is or even what we do during this whole adventure makes me want to get there and play it even more, not yet I'm completely convinced by its gameplay, but I must admit that it has certain shades and certain similarities to the two-dimensional Zelda games.
Wind Waker comes to mind, but that game is in three dimensions. What I do know is that Drifter is full of mysteries and puzzles to solve throughout the entire journey. We literally go from one room to a room where we fight some monsters and then we have to solve a puzzle to get out and move on to another room and repeat the process.
You will be able to It may sound tedious but the key to a good adventure game is the atmosphere and how it treats its world, and so far I think that all the silent scenes and all the unknowns that surround the characters and what we actually do throughout the adventure have made me curious
We never stop discovering things and almost when we discover a new one we will surely have more paths to find new objects sooner rather than later, only in the first path that I have traveled in this game
I have a bad taste in my mouth regarding the gameplay that I think could be much more fluid and I think that in this aspect the developers were a little weak, some of the controls are in my opinion confusing and many of them do not respond to me in the way that I think they should
For example, the main character has a Sprint ability where we can cover medium distance and we can also dodge some enemy attacks but this mechanic does not work in a predictable way but which tends to fail quite a lot and tends to vary between where we have the cursor and where our character is looking
It has been tedious for me to get out of some battles where I had to use this ability no matter what, since several enemies tend to move quite fast and their attacks are unblockable unless we dodge them using Sprint, a small error in the gameplay that I think affects quite a lot, especially for players who want to get through the story and don't want to be truncated by unfair controls
That's a small reservation I had and that I've been noticing throughout several gaming sessions I've had, but if I'm here talking about it it's because the game has made me I've understood it enough to dedicate a few paragraphs to it and continue playing it, maybe I'll take a look at the controls to see what I can fix
But let's also talk about the dedicated graphics that this game has and it's no secret that I love pixel art style games and this game takes full advantage of this variant to surprise the viewer with both landscapes as we play and with cinematics that can often come our way
I've only checked one of the biomes so far, but I'm sure there will be a variety of ecosystems in the deep and the others, and surely a variety of graphical styles. or the color scheme, so there are surely a lot of amazing shots to be taken in this game and it's also perhaps a big factor why I'm sticking around to play it a bit longer

Alguna vez alguna vez has pensado que uno de los juegos que está jugando se asemeja bastante a otro que jugaste en el pasado?
No hablo del género en específico sino de la sensación que te da el explorar un mundo comparado con otro que exploraste cuando eras pequeño, pues esa es la sensación que me ha dejado este pequeño juego que he estado jugando por ya una semana
Hyper Light Drifter, quizás no estaba en mi lista al comienzo del año cuando estaba Armando los juegos que quería jugar en este 2025 pero debo admitir que ha tomado más tiempo del que pensaba que iba a tomar debido a que es endiabladamente bueno, debo admitir eso
Es un juego que toca una fibra sensible en mí debido a que desde pequeño me han gustado bastante los juegos de exploración el estilo de Zelda y este ha hecho bastante para emular esa belleza y misterio del mundo al mismo tiempo que desarrolla mis sentidos de exploración con cada nueva mazmorra que investigo
Parece que no puedo tener suficiente y lo misterioso que es su trama o inclusive qué hacemos durante toda esta aventura hace que me den muchas más ganas de llegar y jugarlo, aún no me convence del todo su jugabilidad pero sí el admitir que tiene ciertos tintes y ciertas similitudes a los juegos de Zelda en dos dimensiones
Me llega a la cabeza Wind Waker pero ese juego está en tres dimensiones, lo que sí sé es que Drifter está llenísimo de misterios y rompecabezas a resolver durante todo el recorrido, literalmente pasamos de una cámara a una sala en donde peleamos contra algunos monstruos y luego tenemos que resolver un rompecabezas para salir y avanzar hacia otra sala y repetir el proceso
Podrá sonar tedioso pero la clave de un buen juego de aventura es la atmósfera y cómo trata su mundo, y hasta el momento creo que toda la escena muda y todas las incógnitas que hay en torno a los personajes y ya qué hacemos en realidad a lo largo de la aventura hace que me cosquilleé la curiosidad
No paramos en ningún momento de descubrir cosas y casi cuando descubrimos una nueva seguramente tendremos más caminos para encontrarnos con nuevos objetos más temprano que tarde, solo en el primer camino que he transitado de este juego
Me queda un mal sabor de boca en cuanto a la jugabilidad que pienso que puede ser mucho más fluida y creo que en este aspecto los desarrolladores estuvieron un poco flacos, algunos de los controles son a mi parecer confusos y muchos de ellos no me responden de la manera en la que pienso que debería
Por ejemplo, el personaje principal tiene una habilidad de Sprint en donde podemos abarcar media distancia y también podremos esquivar algunos ataques enemigos pero esta mecánica no funciona de una manera predecible sino que tiende a fallar bastante y tiende a variar entre donde tenemos puesto el cursor y hacia donde nuestro personaje está mirando
Me ha sido tedioso salir de algunas batallas en donde tenía que usar sí o sí esta habilidad ya que varios enemigos tienden a moverse bastante rápido y sus ataques son inbloqueables a menos que los esquivemos utilizando el Sprint, un pequeño error en la jugabilidad que me parece que afecta bastante sobre todo para jugadores que quieren pasar la historia y no quieren verse truncados por controles injustos
Esa es una pequeña reserva que tenía y que he estado notando a lo largo de varias sesiones de juego que he tenido, pero si estoy acá hablando de eso es porque el juego me ha captado lo suficiente como para dedicarle algunos párrafos y seguir jugandolo, quizás me eche un vistazo a los controles a ver qué puedo solucionar
Pero hablemos también de El dedicado gráfico que tiene este juego y es que para nadie es secreto que a mí me encantan los juegos del estilo pixel art y este juego aprovechas muchísimo esta variante para sorprender al espectador tanto con paisajes a medida que vamos jugando como con cinemáticas que a menudo nos pueden salir por el camino
Por el momento solo he revisado uno de los biomas pero estoy seguro que en las profundidades y en los demás habrá una variedad de ecosistemas y seguramente una variedad de el estilo gráfico o la paleta de colores, así que seguramente hay muchas capturas sorprendentes que hacer en este juego y es también quizá un factor importante por el cual me estoy quedando a jugarlo un poco más
