Today, in the midst of debt and the daily stress of whether I can pay for everything I dreamed of as a child, I allowed myself to have a little fun with some games that I have had on my PC for years, either because they are not too heavy or simply because they are great video games that Whenever I want I can play and have a good time, one of those games is Valve's masterpiece: Portal, which is a few years away from turning 20, crazy knowing that when this game came out I was barely in elementary school.
Even today I think that many will find what this game has to offer fascinating, it is one of the first puzzle video games that surprised me, at that time I was glued to titles like Battlefield or Rainbow Six so finding another FPS I think attracted me immediately, seeing what it offers later, being a puzzle game I think it made my curiosity spark like it rarely has.
This is a title with a strange atmosphere, with strange mechanics and a strange plot, nothing in Portal could be called conventional for the time, besides the fact that it was sold as a kind of extension along with other more established games, it was clear that although Valve I knew they had a big idea, they were not willing to make more than a game of a couple of hours that would sell with other more successful titles.
It is incredible that today, this is one of the games most loved by players, it is so well thought out from the first moment, where we leave a kind of suspension capsule and find ourselves in a sealed room... until they open one of These portals so that we can go out, the image where we see ourselves generates a quick connection with the environment, it is us moving from one space to another in the room.
This concept, although simple, mobilizes this entire adventure and its sequel that I will play in the next few days, at the beginning they first show us how to open doors, move and jump, and then give us our first gun with only one portal, the blue one, since We have this and we discover all kinds of effects on the experimental field, we can see inertia in action in the high jumps that we do as well as we can influence objects with these same laws.
This game has a very brilliant way of teaching you everything you can do with the portal gun, we do it through test chambers where we have to get from the entrance to the exit directly to the elevator, things get worse each time more complex as they teach us how many more things we can do and here the friendly and at the same time creepy voice of GLADOS, the apparent robotic boss of this testing laboratory, also comes into play.
There is an unusual narrative weight in this adventure, when we see the laboratories or the test rooms without anyone at the desks it seems that we can imagine everything that happened before we woke up, hell even the fans in their time partially created the story of This game with theories based on what was seen in the game, the writings and so on.
Playing Portal today always cheers me up, it is a game that even today I feel is very present among the players, from the beginning to the final fight I think there is a lot that we miss, but knowing that this game comes from Valve we can deduce that it is They will have to beg to make a third installment or if they want to deliver some extra content, so far I think we can wait and enjoy what we have with this excellent game.

Hoy en medio de las deudas y el estres diario de si puedo pagar todo lo que soñé de niño me permiti divertirme un poco con algunos juegos que tengo en mi pc desde hace años, ya sea porque no pesan demasiado o sencillamente porque son videojuegos geniales que siempre que quiera puedo jugar y tener un buen tiempo, uno de esos juegos es la obra maestra de Valve: Portal, que esta a algunos años de cumplir 20 años, una locura sabiendo que cuando salio este juego yo apenas estaba en la primaria.
Aun hoy creo que muchos encontraran fascinante lo que tiene para ofrecer este juego, es de los primeros videojuegos de puzles que me sorprendieron, en esa epoca estaba pegado a titulos como Battlefield o Rainbow Six por lo que encontrarme con otro FPS creo que me atrajo de inmediato, viendo lo que ofrece despues, siendo un juego de puzles creo que hizo que mi curiosidad brotara como pocas veces lo ha hecho.
Este es un titulo con una atmosfera extraña, con unas mecanicas extrañas y una trama extraña, nada en Portal podria llamarse convencional para la epoca, ademas de que se vendia como una especie de extension junto con otros juegos mas consolidados, estaba claro que aunque Valve sabia que tenia una idea grande no estaban dispuestos a hacer mas que un juego de un par de horas que se vendiese con otros titulos mas exitosos.
Es increible que hoy, este sea uno de los juegos mas amados por los jugadores, esta tan bien pensado desde el primer momento, en donde salimos de una especie de capsula de suspension y nos encontramos en una habitacion sellada.. hasta que abren uno de estos portales para que podamos salir, la imagen en donde nos vemos a nosotros mismos genera una conexion rapida con el entorno, somos nosotros moviendonos de un espacio a otro de la habitacion.
Este concepto, aunque sencillo, moviliza toda esta aventura y su secuela que jugare en los proximos dias, al principio nos muestran primero como abrir puertas, movernos y saltar, para luego darnos nuestra primera pistola con solo un portal, el azul, ya desde que tenemos esto descubrimos todo tipo de efectos sobre el terreno de experimentacion, podemos ver la inercia en accion en los saltos de altura que hagamos asi como que podemos influir en los objetos con estas mismas leyes.
Este juego tiene una forma muy brillante de enseñarte todo lo que puedes hacer con la pistola de portales, lo hacemos a traves de camaras de pruebas en donde tenemos que llegar de la entrada hasta la salida directo al ascensor, la cosa se va poniendo cada vez mas compleja a medida que nos van enseñando cuantas mas cosas podemos hacer y aqui entre en el juego tambien la simpatica y a la vez espeluznante voz de GLADOS, la aparente jefa robotica de este laboratorio de pruebas.
Hay un peso narrativo inusual en esta aventura, cuando vemos los laboratorios o las salas de prueba sin nadie en los escritorios parece que nosotros podemos imaginarnos todo lo que paso antes de que despertasemos, demonios incluso los fans en su tiempo crearon en parte la historia de este juego con teorias basadas en lo que se veia en el juego, los escritos y demas.
Jugar Portal hoy siempre me devuelve el animo, es un juego que aun hoy siento que esta muy presente entre los jugadores, desde el comienzo hasta la pelea final creo que hay mucho que extrañamos, pero sabiendo que este juego viene de Valve podemos deducir que se haran de rogar para hacer una tercera entrega o si quiere entregar algo de contenido extra, hasta ahora creo que podemos esperar y disfrutar lo que tenemos con este excelente juego.
