In the start of this episode I gathered lots of cobblestones and andesite to start building the entrance to my mining area.
While strip mining downwards, I stumbled upon my first ever vein of iron. After gathering enough materials, I put the iron I gathered inside the furnace to smelt. The first three ingots were then crafted into an iron pickaxe to mine more materials more easily. Some of the smelted ingots were crafted into shears to gather oak leaves and honeycombs, chains for aesthetic purposes, and lamps.
After gathering enough materials, I decided to wander around my base to take a rest after a long day of resource gathering. I went south, skidaddling beside the long river and collecting sugarcanes while I'm at it. After a few moments, I saw a silhouette of what look like a ruined portal in the distance, so I sprinted until I reached the said portal.
It has a gold block on top (which thankfully, was collected because I had an iron pickaxe). Inside the chest that layed beside the crying obsidian, I found a gold legging, a gold chestplate, a few gold ingots, a flint a steel, and three obsidians. Nothing much but better than nothing, I guess.
I was satisfied with my small exploration and went home to start building the entrance to my mining area.

The build took me a half an hour, since I had to dig the walls of dirt to replace it with cobbles (and andesite for texturing). I tried not to fully change the landscape, all the while, trying to actually make it look different. I tried to add a sort-of crane looking top-piece that hangs chains and lanterns to break the stone-background and to add a bit of lighting to the area. I also added a few oak leaves to break the bland consistency. At the end, it turned out great, I guess. The disgusting hill of dirt became a sturdy wall of cobble and stone that will house my riches down the future mine. I also think the windmill add-on is perfect.
What do you think of my build? Do leave a comment down below, traveler!
On the next episode, I will discuss my future plans about my base. It will include the laying out of structures that will define my sanctuary, possible builds of the said sanctuary, and livestock and farm situation. See yah next time!
