We are a gaming family as we always had the latest model of console when it was released. My kids were lucky as there was no begging or pleading as daddy had already eyed it out and it was just something that happened. I used to play any type of game except first shooter types as they made me sea sick or vertigo as they call it. Something to do with my eyes and ears with balance apparently and no I am not retarded.
Playstation One a big tick, Playstation 2 another big tick and finally Playstation 3 what a dud. It looked great and worked well when it worked but it had it's serious down side with technical faults. I was trying to find some photographs online and it seems the Playstation 4 has the same problems.

this is the fault on PS4 currently which I see they have a fix for. The PS3 literally had a blue light and nothing worked. Everything was cooked inside due to over heating issues.
Sony experienced a boom after PlayStation One and when X Box launched they had some serious competition on their hands. We bought the X Box One as well and have that lying around somewhere gathering dust and most likely in a box in the garage. Sony look as though after Play Station Two they rushed the next models to be the first to the market place with their third model.
At the time they advertised special upgraded cooling and all that jazz which was a load of bollocks. The first Play Station 3 must have lasted 6 or 7 months before the famous blue light of death appeared. A bit like the grip reaper coming to say your times up and you need to go and buy another one.

So called service provider who I visited too many times.
Sony had a service agent conveniently located about an hours drive away which was easily found using the map on the phone. I handed it in not for repair but a swap out as this was obviously a common problem. This cost me roughly 1/3 of buying a new one so I was kind of happy with the deal. The swap out was for a refurbished console which looked brand new.
Fast forward a few months later and bingo we had exactly the same thing happen yet again. The kids were horrified now as I was having second thoughts and it took me a few weeks to take the drive again. I just thought it was not right and the over heating issue wasn't our problem but Sony's. The same process except I read this time a sign stating there was no warranty on replacement units. Still the same deal was in place being roughly 1/3 rd of a new console.
Everyone was happy again for the next few months until the grim reaper reappeared and screwed everything up yet again. By this point I was done and after contacting Sony in Japan with not even a sorry for you I decided to get one more replacement to sell it. I thought if they are going to make it look like new with the packaging I may as well make some of my money back.
I just don't understand how a company like Sony can get away with this launching a product that clearly has major faults. I refuse to purchase another Sony product no matter how tempted I am. I love my gaming and just can't do it as I don't trust them to supply a product that isn't faulty.
My kids have moved on to gaming computers these days so it has left me high and dry. I suppose Hive has replaced that void to some extent and possibly made me more intelligent. Still sucks though.
