RolleCoin, the browser mining simulator. Where you increase your hashrate by playing small games and participating in events.
The bad side of RollerCoin
What I mean by this is not that the game is bad per see, it just has some things that irritate me and I think need to be addressed, will they? Not likely. So it is more things in the game rather than the game as a whole. But I do think that if you plan to start playing RollerCoin these things are things you should be made aware of.
The games
As the main feature of the game is to play short games to increase your hashrate and let you mine more. There are currently 12 games to choose from. And some of them, are well not especially good. So let us start off by looking at the first one, shall we?
Coinclick
this is not one of the games I have done an in-depth review of in the past. Basically, because there is very little to review. A Hamster throws out coins or bombs. You click on the coin before they drop to the ground and you do not click on the bombs. That is it. Well for the game part. There is also a clock or timer if you will.
This is the bad part, it serves only one purpose for the game. To punish you the player. What I mean by that is this. In all the other games there are clocks as well, and a limited amount of time to complete the goal. And in these games, you can complete the goal with more or less time left. Or you sometimes run out of time and loos.
In these games the timer serves a purpose, which is to put pressure on you the player, to hurry up because the time is running out. Maybe you will make more risky decisions because of this. So it actually serves a purpose in the game design.
But when it comes to Coinclick, the game is always the same. The last coin gets thrown out and you have just over 1 second to click it. So the timer serves no purpose other than to make you loos unless you are clicking fast on the last coin specifically. The rest of the game is just there to see if you can click this one last coin fast enough or you loos. This is just bad game design. And it has an easy fix. Just remove the in-game timer. The game would take just as long as before. But you do not have any added element of frustration that can mess the player up.
Lambo Rider
This game I actually did cover in an in-depth review. And for the most part, it plays well and is a fun little game. But, the dreaded but. It has several bugs in it that just turn the game into crap in my eyes. This is exacerbated by the fact the game is one of the 4 games that give you the most hashrate, meaning you play this one a lot.
There are two bugs that have the same effect. Due to no fault of your own, you can lose the game. These are as follows. Sometimes there will be obstacles blocking all three lanes at once. Meaning you have no choice but to take damage. And this can occur multiple times in the same game. So you can lose simply because of this.
The second bug is that no matter if you collect all the coins in the game, there are not enough of them for you to win. So you lose because the time runs out.
Both of these problems I would say stem from the same issue, bad programming. The person who made the game just did a very bad job. And I would argue it is a very easy fix.
There is also a visual bug, or two, in the game. But this does not impact the gameplay. So I will let them be as they will not mess you over.
Dr. Hamster
This one I actually literally just came across before writing this post. And I have to attribute it to the straw that broke the camel's back. And while this is not a situation that will arise particularly often, unlike the bugs in Lambo rider. It is just as frustrating if not more.
What happened was this. I managed to set up my two viruses so I could eliminate them by adding one block. I had 3 blocks going down, missing the fourth on top. From this missing block, I had 3 blocks going to the right. And of course, they were all of the same colors. So all I had to do was add one square of that color to the missing place and I would co-eliminate both of the viruses by creating four vertically and horizontally at the same time.
But you guessed it, it did not happen. When I placed the missing square only the vertical 4 was taken out. So again a bug that fails the game. While this still lets you complete the game, well if you have enough time left. It is still annoying. As I tend to do these sorts of setups when I can because I play a lot of games and it is important to enjoy yourself.
Overall game bug
This bug is especially annoying now with the summer event going on. And this is the fact that after you win the game it does not always get credited. Means you can have to play it over and over again, hoping it will count this time. This is a very annoying bug. And it seemingly occurs at random.
The support
This is one of the more frustrating things with the game. The support, or lack thereof. I have had ongoing issues with the old offer wall where I have not gotten paid, and it has taken over a month to get an answer if I get one at all.
The Discord admins
If you are thinking about creating content for the game, as I did way back when. I would argue that if you do, keep it out of their Discord channel. As I got banned for posting links to my articles, banned by the very admin who said it was ok for me to do so.
So unless you are a youtube with a lot of followers, they do not care about you one bit. And it is kind of sad.
Well, that is my bucket list of bad things with RollerCoin. While my experience with the support and discord might vastly vary from yours. The bad and buggy games are the same for everyone.
Please share any experience you have had with RollerCoin, good or bad, in the comment section down below.
If you would like to support me and the content I make, please consider following me, reading my other posts, or why not do both instead.
See you on the interwebs!
