At last I have accomplished my latest gaming goal that I have been working on for the last 2 weeks. I finally achieved the platinum trophy for Control. I got 100% in Control Ultimate Edition, which means I did everything that the main game and two DLCs had to offer.

I will also present to you my closing thoughts about Control, now that I have officially completed everything that the game has to offer.

Total Play Time

It took me 25 hours to full complete Control Ultimate Edition.

This game packed so much into a relatively short game. I didn’t feel as though Control fell flat during any moment. I was engaged by the story the entire way through, including the DLCs. The gameplay was always offering me something new and exciting. The exploration kept me on my toes and I felt encouraged to discover new areas/collectibles. Plus the environments were just straight gorgeous. The photo mode didn’t have a ton of options, but even with just a simple camera I was able to take so many amazing photographs.

Main Story

This is where I initially fell in love with Control. The base game is just so much fun. The Service Weapon was very versatile and offered many different ways to take down enemies. The supernatural abilities were so much fun to use, whether it be to further explore or dominate my foes. I didn’t feel the need to skip cutscenes, I genuinely cared about the plot and was happy with how it all unfolded.

I did however crave more of control after spending about 15 or so hours with the main story. Thankfully I had the Ultimate Edition which came with the two worthwhile DLCs called “The Foundation” and “AWE”. Both are available after you beat the main story and can be downloaded separately, or included with the Ultimate Edition.

The Foundation DLC

Beneath the Old House is a cavernous area that is slowly blending in with the astral plane. There are new enemy types and a weapon form that enables you to interact with crystals growing underground. There were several new missions and areas to conquer as well. Just like the main story, this portion of the game was exciting the entire time. It’s a solid 5 more hours of things to do and I consider it a must play if you choose to experience Control.

The AWE DLC

This was the final bonus content in Control and added another 5 or so hours to the journey. AWE stands Altered World Events. This part of the game was the most eerie by far. Many portions leave you in total darkness facing a super creepy creature who chases you around. You unlock arguably one of my favorite weapon forms called Surge, which functions as a grenade launcher of sorts. This DLC content also correlates to another Remedy developed video game called Alan Wake, which released back in 2010. Again I say this is a must play if you’re spending any time at all with Control.

Photo Mode

Time to finish off my time with Control. I loved this game so damn much and think it’s perfect for anyone who is into otherworldly things. If you’ve ever done psychedelics, then you 100% just have to play Control.
