Practice makes perfect 🔫
I've been absolutely loving MWII so far. This is the most fun I've had with a COD launch in years. Thankfully I actually have the time to play this year.
I won't claim to be the best player, although I've played every COD multiplayer that has ever existed dating back to COD2 in 2005. You'd think I'd be elite, but I am just above average I'd say. When you pair that with SBMM (skill-based matchmaking), I have some great games and some awful ones. You never know what kind of lobby you will be placed in.
SBMM isn't the only thing that is questionable about MWII. There is a long list of things that were either promised or assumed to be in the game, that simply do not exist at launch as they should. It almost seems like the game should have been delayed to polish certain aspects. Instead of missing the launch day, they decided to release the game with loads of missing features.
Some of what I'm talking about includes, but is not limited to:
◘ Hardcore Modes
◘ Leaderboards
◘ Stats/Combat Record
◘ Barracks
◘ Challenges
◘ Medals
◘ Ability to Inspect weapons in Gunsmith
◘ Ability to save Custom Blueprints
◘ Camo Unlock Notifications In-Game
◘ Import settings not working
◘ Ability to turn off Cross-Play
◘ XP Token Countdown
◘ Customizable Reticles
◘ Split Screen Mode
It's a bit disappointing that Infinity Ward has failed to provide us with a full COD experience. However, what is there is extremely fun. That is, as long as your game doesn't crash nonstop. There are also many reports of the game not letting people in immediately and placing them in a queue. Luckily, it's nowhere near the nightmarish launch that Overwatch 2 was a few weeks ago.
I tried to play MWII with @derangedvisions on launch day and it was totally unplayable for him. When I partied up with my brother later that same day, we both were having issues with staying in a full match. I'm really hoping this is just launch day troubles and things will smooth out as fewer people are playing at once and more bugs are patched.
Then of course, I expect most, if not all of, the missing features to gradually make their way into the game. I believe that MWII will eventually become the most enjoyable COD multiplayer out there, it just may take a bit.
Don't get me started on how terrible the UI is in this game. I absolutely loathe the menus and do not understand why everything is horizontal now. Maybe it's because the UI Designer they hired formerly worked at Hulu. I'm not joking. MWII's menus are as cumbersome as trying to find your favorite movie or tv show on Hulu. This makes no sense, but I find it doubtful that it'll receive any major overhauls. We shall see though.
In today's video, you will get to see a Hardpoint match on Santa Seña Border Crossing. This map is pretty epic and there are dozens of explosive vehicles lined up on a tight highway on the US border.
Despite many complaints about MWII, I still have played way too much of it these last few days. It's an incredibly fun game and I'm so happy that it's out in the wild finally.
Thanks for watching!
