Temtem Up!
I have had my eyes on Temtem since late January when it first was released on PS5. It is also available on PC and is has cross-play between the two. Currently the game is in early access and can be had for a reduced price of about $40. I recently read this post by @acidyo, which is what encouraged me to finally pull the trigger on my purchase.
Temtem is very similar to Pokemon, but it still manages to stand out in more ways than one. In this video I go over pretty much everything that I have experienced so far after playing the game for a week. I am very pleased with the gameplay and have already become pretty addicted to training my Temtem.
Some of my favorite things about the game so far:
- There is actually some true difficulty that makes the game a challenge.
- The monsters are as creative as they need to be.
- Being in an open world with other real people is awesome.
- Evolutions are something that you really must train for.
- The environments are very well designed and nice to explore.
- The 2v2 battle system is extra strategic thanks to stamina and items.
- Learning the new types and their weaknesses/resistances add even more difficulty.
- The surfboard is freaking bad ass.
I definitely recommend that you watch my video if you are curious to know more about this game. I think I will answer most of your questions and probably even show you some things that you didn't think of before. Below are a few images I captured from my gameplay.
These are the three starter Temtem (and their evolutions) that you get to choose from. From left to right: Crystle the crystal type, Smazee the melee type, and Houchic the mental type. I went with Smazee since I love monkeys, despite how cool the other two were.
This is my tamer, I like how it shows you some of your stats. Apprentice's Eve is the first day that I started playing. The character customization was pretty good, but don't expect to be able to afford any of the extra outfits early on. They are all bought with in-game currency, but I have been spending all of mine on items.
The map is so vast. You start the game in the island called Deniz. Afterwards you make your way to Omninesia. That is as far as I've made it for now. Some locations in Deniz for instance are locked until you unlock certain abilities such as surfing and rock climbing. Teleportation/fast traveling is even an option thanks to the latest Cipanku update. Until you progress further into the game you have to walk everywhere. Eventually you can even get mounts.
This is my current squad. I just got my first evolution with Platox. Evolving has always been one of the most satisfying things about monster training games. My team is pretty well rounded, but I do not stand a chance in online vs matches yet.
Thanks for watching my video 😎🤝
Whether you viewed the entirety of my video, or if you just briefly read through the blog. I hope that this will provide you with some information about this game that will either get you to play it, or know that it is not for you.
