Greetings, human gamers, how’s it going…
Well, today we’re not feeling so “gamer” on @splinterlands. Instead, we’re feeling a bit more reflective and analytical about what this project really is and my journey in the game over the years.
In case you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know what I’m talking about to me, Splinterlands is the face of gaming on Hive, just like Mario Bros is for Nintendo.
Throughout this post, I’ll touch on several topics that might be useful if you’re thinking of joining Splinterlands or if you want to hear from a real person what the project looked like before, during, and where it’s heading. That said, let’s get started:
▪️OBSTACLE
In this first section, I’ll talk about three main obstacles. The first one I ran into and you probably will too is the battle rules, because you’ll need to learn them if you want to progress. The second is the abilities the cards have, since there are many of them. Back then, there weren’t even that many, and I still struggled to learn what each one did and how to combine them effectively.
Lastly, I’ll mention the cards themselves. If you read my previous post, you know that summoners are the foundation of the game having high level summoners is key. As a bonus, I’ll add one more 2025 obstacle: rentals. Either there are no good level cards to rent, or the ones that exist are too expensive and not worth the return on investment.
▪️ADVICE
I think the best advice I could give my past self would be: buy that Epic land. It could have been worth much more in the future, and I didn’t do it. Oh well, now I’m saving up in case a good deal comes around.
▪️THE MOST COMPLEX MECHANIC FOR ME
Honestly, most mechanics were complex at the beginning, but it’s just a matter of practice until you know what each one does and become familiar with them. What really gave me trouble at the time were Gladius cards I didn’t understand why I couldn’t play them, and it was because I didn’t have the necessary summoners.
Nowadays, sadly, these cards are being forgotten since their summoners have moved to the Wild format. I hope someday we’ll be able to use them again or that a new league is created for them.
🤩THE GUIDING PLAYER
This part brought back a lot of memories not just as a player, but as a person. From the David I used to be (yes, that’s my name) to who I am now and what I’ve achieved.
There isn’t just one player who guided me, but three, and here’s why:
The first person who motivated me was a YouTuber named FOSFORO GAMING I think he was Argentinian, and this was back in 2021. He talked a lot about the game and taught us strategies. And let’s be honest, the profits were good back then (those were the days). Sadly, he stopped creating content years ago.
The second person is the lovely catiro bello @splinterdany, a kind person I’m still in touch with via WhatsApp. At one point, he made reflective and fun content about the project that I really enjoyed. Though I don’t see him as active in the game anymore, he’s still very involved in Hive with social initiatives.
Lastly, the master @bulkathos. When you hear him talk about the game, it makes you want to invest. He’s a true Splinterlover and a very wise person. He usually hosts a program on Discord called LA TABERNA DE BULKATHOS, where he analyzes the project in the context of current events and ends with a mini tournament among attendees (program is in Spanish). I sometimes join (when the wife lets me, hehe), and trust me, it’s an excellent program where you can learn a lot.

I think that’s been part of David’s journey; for me, Splinterlands is a great project that continues to evolve well despite its years. While I consider it the #2 card game in web3, it’s the one I’m most emotionally attached to. Thanks for all the emotions you’ve given me over the years both good and bad.

Saludos humanos gamers como van...
Bueno hoy no estamos tan gamers en @splinterlands, si no que estamos un poco reflexivos y analíticos frente a todo lo que es este proyecto como tal y mi camino en el juego a lo largo de estos años.
Por si haz vivido debajo de una cueva y no sabes de que te hablo, para mi splinterlands es la cara del gaming en hive como lo es mario bros en nintendo.
A lo largo de este post tocaremos varios temas que quizás te sirvan si quisieras entrar a splinterlands o quisieras ver de una persona real como ve e proyecto antes , durante y en el mañana, dicho esto comencemos:
OBSTACULO
Bueno en esta primera sección hablaremos de 3 :el primero que me encontré y te vas a encontrar son las reglas de batalla ya que te las tendrás que ir aprendiendo si quieres ir progresando, el segundo son las habilidades que tienen las cartas ya que son muchas y eso que antes no eran tantas y me costaba dificultad aprender cada una para que servia y como las podría combinar.
Por ultimo dejo las cartas ya que si leíste mi post anterior los invocadores ya que son la base del juego ( tener invocadores de buen nivel es la clave ). Ya como bonus te dejo este obstáculo en este año 2025 y es que son los arquileres ya que o no hay cartas de buen nivel para arquilar o las que hay están muy costosas y no compensan la inversión frente a lo ganado.
CONSEJOS
Creo que mi mayor consejo para mi yo anterior ,era que comprara esa tierra Épica, ya que en el futuro podría tener mas valor y no lo hice. Pero bueno estamos ahorrando para cuando salga una buena oferta.
MECÁNICA MAS COMPLEJA PARA MI
Tal mecánica como tal en general todas, pero es cuestión de practica para que sepas que hace cada una y te termines familiarizando con todas. Lo que si me dio dificulta era entender en su momento las cartas Gladius ya que no entendía el porque no lo podía jugar y era porque no tenia los invocadores. Hoy en día tristemente estas cartas se están olvidando ya que los invocadores pasaron a wild, pero espero que próximamente los podamos jugar de nuevo o creen una liga para ellas.
EL JUGADOR GUIA
Esta parte me recordó muchas cosas de mi y no solo como jugador sino como persona, del david ( ya sabes mi nombre ) que era antes al que es ahora y lo que ha logrado.
Aquí no hay 1 jugador sino 3 y aquí del porque para que me entiendas:
La primera persona que me motivo era un youtuber que se llamaba FOSFORO GAMING creo que era argentino y era la época del 2021 el hombre hablaba mucho del juego y nos enseñaba estrategias en ese entonces y hay que decirlo se hacia buenas ganancias en esa época ( que tiempos ) aunque hace años que dejo de crear contenido.
La segunda persona es el catiro bello @splinterdany una persona muy bella con la que actualmente tengo comunicación por whatshap . Este hombre en su momento hacia un contenido reflexivo y divertido sobre el proyecto con el cual me divertía mucho y aunque ya no lo veo tan activo en el juego si es muy activo en hive con algunos proyectos de labor social .
Por ultimo el maestro @bulkathos, este hombre cuando lo escuchas hablar del juego te da ganas de invertir, él si es un splinterlover y es una persona muy culta. Generalmente hace un programa en el discord que se llama LA TABERNA DE BULKATHOS donde analiza el proyecto frente a lo que esta pasando actualmente y al final hace un mini torneo con los asistentes ( programa en español ). Yo en ocasiones entro ( cuando la mujer me deja jeje ) y créame que es un excelente programa donde aprendes mucho.
Creo que este ha sido un poco el viaje de David ;para mi splinterlands un gran proyecto que esta evolucionando bien a pesar de los años que tiene encima y aunque para mi es el top 2 de juegos de cartas en web3 ,es al que mas le tengo cariño. Gracias por todas las emociones que me has dado estos años ( buenas y malas ) y para ti que es splinterlands?
